METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONNECTING FIBRE-REINFORCED WEBS

Method and device for connecting two webs (1), reinforced with unidirectionally oriented continuous fibres, by ultrasonic welding, wherein the fibres are embedded in a matrix of polycarbonate and the webs have abutting edges that are substantially square and substantially flat, characterized by the following steps:arranging the webs abutting one another in the region of the abutting edges in a welding device between a sonotrode (2) and an anvil (3),welding the webs by means of ultrasound, wherein the sonotrode and the anvil exert pressure on the webs to be welded in the melting region between the webs and perpendicularly to the abutting edges of the webs, removing the welded-together webs (4) from the welding device.

METHOD OF INCREASING BUBBLE STABILITY OF A POLYETHYLENE RESIN
20240293965 · 2024-09-05 ·

A method of increasing bubble stability of a needful high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin in need thereof, the method comprising subjecting the needful high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin to a determined amount of oxygen tailoring of the resin so as to independently increase both the resin's melt storage modulus G (at G=3000 pascals) and complex viscosity ratio SH1000, and thereby make an oxygen-tailored high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin having a targeted increase in bubble stability. The method uses a tailoring effective amount of molecular oxygen (O.sub.2) to achieve the desired oxygen tailoring. The method uses these advanced rheological properties from dynamic mechanical spectroscopy, but analyzes the data in a different way that is more sensitive to changes in resin composition and properties, and yet achieves a resin regime having a targeted increase in bubble stability.

Sub-ambient pressure morphology control process for use in molding extruded polymer foams, and parts produced therefrom

A method of sub-ambient pressure processing of blow-molded polymer foams and skin-over-foam sandwich panel configurations for lightweight components having improved structural properties. The method can create either skinned or un-skinned foams that offer smooth interior and exterior surfaces, zero or controlled surface porosity, skins of pre-defined thickness, and foam cells that are expanded and oriented normal to the material plane, effectively spherical or polyhedral in nature, and offering improved bending and compressive strength.

Method and Device for Producing Large-Volume Containers With Flange By Plastic Blow Molding
20180117824 · 2018-05-03 ·

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing large-volume container trays of plastic. A tubular preform is guided over a mold frame which is facing two blow molds. During the closure of the blow molds, an encircling flange is formed on the outer edge of the container trays. After blow molding, the container trays are cut free from the mold frame along said mold frame.

LOW-SAG POLYETHYLENE PIPES AND METHODS THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to pipes comprising bimodal high molecular weight high density polyethylene which has been extruded in the presence of one or more organic peroxides that are present in an amount ranging from 30 ppm to 200 ppm. The pipe has an improved long-term hydrostatic strength. Also provided are methods for preparing pipes having these characteristics.

BIAXIALLY ORIENTED MEMBRANES FROM DOUBLE LAYER, OIL FILLED SHEETS

The present disclosure relates to a process for the formation of freestanding, biaxially-oriented, microporous polyolefin films. In this approach, at least two separate oil-filled, cast or calendered films are stacked on top of each other and then subjected to biaxial orientation, followed by solvent extraction of the process oil (i.e., plasticizer), evaporation of the solvent, and heat stabilization prior to separation into individual microporous membranes that are wound into rolls.
