A semi-finished product for the manufacture of a structural component has a plurality of prepreg tapes, each having unidirectionally arranged reinforcing fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix material, and with a plurality of connecting strands containing a thermoplastic material. The prepreg tapes and the connecting strands are either joined to form a textile sheet structure or the prepreg tapes are arranged to form a multiaxial fabric, individual layers of the fabric being joined by the connecting strands. Further, a method for manufacturing a curved structural component from such a semi-finished product is described.

FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC COMPONENTS WITH INCREASED SLIP-RESISTANCE AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
20220203632 · 2022-06-30 · ·

The present application pertains to components such as tank covers with increased slip resistance and processes for making such components. Generally, a patterned release fabric is employed in a manner such that a formed fiber reinforced plastic component has a textured pattern on at least one surface to increase slip resistance.

Method for producing a leak-tight vessel and leak-tight vessel obtained thereby
20220196208 · 2022-06-23 ·

The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a leak-tight vessel comprising a cylindrical mantle and two dome-shaped ends for the storage of a gas and/or a liquid. The method comprises providing an inner barrier layer comprising a heat-sealable thermoplastic material and an outer shell layer comprising a fiber-reinforced heat-sealable thermoplastic material, as well as an end-fitting. Further, the method comprises providing an inner layer by winding a heat-sealable thermoplastic filament material and forming an outer layer in two steps: first providing around the mantle of the vessel a fabric of a fiber-reinforced heat-sealable material, whereby the width of the fabric diminishes with successive windings of the fabric around the mantle, followed by winding a fiber-reinforced heat-sealable plastic film over the fabric around the mantle and the dome-shaped endings.

20220193978 · 2022-06-23 ·

Described is a method for producing a sandwich composite component and a sandwich composite component with a pressed two- or three-dimensional shape, having at least one structured core layer made of thermoplastic material which has two opposite core layer surfaces, each bonded to a thermoplastic cover layer. A sandwich composite component is also described.

THRUST REVERSER CASCADE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
20220195961 · 2022-06-23 · ·

A thrust reverser cascade of an aircraft engine comprises a frame and a vane overmolded onto the frame. The frame and the vane each comprise reinforcement fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. A method is disclosed for manufacturing the thrust reverser cascade or another part comprising an aerodynamic surface configured to interact with a flow of fluid. The method comprises providing a first portion of the part and overmolding a second portion of the part onto the first portion where the second portion includes the aerodynamic surface.

Non-penetrating multi-layer continuous hose and a preparation method thereof

A non-penetrating multi-layer continuous hose and a preparation method thereof are provided. The hose includes an outer coating, a reinforcement layer, and an inner coating. The inner coating and the outer coating can have one or more layers with different materials and have an adjustable thickness. The hose is prepared by simultaneously performing extrusion coating inside and outside the reinforcement layer rather than penetrating the fiber reinforcement layer. The hose exhibits improved layer-to-layer adhesion and has high strength, and continuous production can be achieved to meet the length requirement in various kinds of construction, which has high applicability.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WINDING DEFORMATION OF FIBER FABRIC AND FORMING MOLD THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to a control method for winding deformation of fiber fabric and a forming mould thereof. The control method comprises step S1: lifting a plurality of positioning pins arranged on a surface of a forming mould according to a design position of a fiber fabric that is wound on the forming mould; step S2: winding the fiber fabric on the forming mould, and making a plurality of intersections of warp tracer yarn and weft tracer yarn, arranged on the fiber fabric, correspondingly cover on the positioning pins; step S3: retracting the lifted positioning pins; step S4: wrapping the fiber fabric with a fixing mould, and injecting resin after vacuumizing. The present disclosure provides a control method for winding deformation of fiber fabric and a forming mould thereof, ensuring that fiber deformations on the fiber fabric in the winding process meet the design requirements.

Woven fibrous preform for manufacturing a fan blade made of composite material

A three-dimensional fibrous preform of a fan blade includes a blade root and a blade airfoil between the blade root and a free end of the preform. The airfoil has an area with two skins and a longitudinal stiffener between the skins and, in a transverse plane, transverse yarns of the skins woven in pairs in the first and in the second skin either side of the stiffener, the yarns of a first pair of the first skin are separated into two unit yarns at the stiffener, the unit yarns being woven separately with longitudinal yarns, the yarns of a second pair of the second skin are separated into two unit yarns at the stiffener, the yarns being woven separately with longitudinal yarns, and a yarn of each pair cross over each other twice in the stiffener.

METHOD FOR COSMETICALLY ALTERING A FIBERGLASS PIECE

A method of cosmetically altering a fiberglass piece comprising having a graphical element disposed on a layer of textile fabric. An outer layer of a curable gel-coat is applied to a mold for the cosmetically altered fiberglass piece. At least one intermediate layer of textile is then applied over the outer layer, the textile comprising a graphical element disposed adjacent to the outer layer. An inner layer is then applied to the intermediate layer, the inner layer providing structural support to the fiberglass piece. A bonding agent is then applied to wet out the outer layer, the intermediate layer, and the inner layer, thereby resulting in an assembly of a wet out three-layer combination, the curing of which results in the cosmetically altered fiberglass piece.
