GENDER SPECIFIC SYNTHETIC NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITIONS AND NUTRITIONAL SYSTEMS COMPRISING THEM
Gender specific synthetic nutritional compositions for infants up to 1 month of age wherein, the caseins content is adapted based on that found in HM produced for an infant of the same gender and age, and nutritional systems comprising them.
Methods of using human milk oligosaccharides for improving airway respiratory health
Disclosed are nutritional compositions including human milk oligosaccharides that can be administered to preterm infants, term infants, toddlers, and children for improving airway defense mechanisms.
PEDIATRIC NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR INFANTS DELIVERED BY C-SECTION
The present disclosure generally provides nutritional compositions that are useful for promoting beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract of a Cesarean-section (C-section)-delivered infant. The nutritional composition can include a prebiotic composition comprising human milk oligosaccharides (HMO), milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), and galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) and/or polydextrose (PDX). The present disclosure also provides methods for promoting the growth of beneficial microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract of C-section-delivered infants comprising administering to a C-section-delivered infant the disclosed nutritional composition.
Method and Apparatus for Processing Breast Milk
Methods, devices, and systems for concentrating breast milk are described. Concentrating nutrients in breast milk may be achieved using an apparatus comprising at least one forward osmotic membrane. In an example the apparatus can include a first sheet of material comprising a forward osmotic membrane, a second sheet of material sealed to the first sheet of material about a common outer perimeter thereof, the first sheet of material arranged so that water can traverse the forward osmotic membrane to an interior of the first and second sheets, and a dry carbohydrate within the interior of the first and second sheets exhibiting an osmotic draw property to draw water from un-concentrated, expressed human milk to form concentrated human milk. After a predetermined time, or upon the milk remaining after drawing of water through the membrane being a desired amount, the water draw can end.
PURIFIED ANIMAL COLOSTRUM NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT
Provided is a method of optimizing animal colostrum for human consumption by removing allergenic components and combining one or more immune factors to enable the composition to target the mucosal barriers, thereby enhancing mucosal integrity and increasing immune support. The composition is purified to remove one or more of lactose, casein proteins, fats, and/or oils, thereby creating a product that is devoid of allergenic components. The composition may be combined with a prebiotic, and/or natural sweeteners, additional vitamins, herbs, and/or minerals, and flavoring ingredients. The resulting product forms an instantly dissolvable powder that can be distributed in single serve packets, aerosolized spray, and/or in a chewable form. Furthermore, the composition can be used as an ingredient in food and beverages, in infant formula, in medical foods, or in over-the-counter drugs. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the bioactive composition.
METHODS, DEVICES AND COMPOSITIONS FOR PRESERVING HUMAN MILK
Described herein, are compositions and methods for preserving human milk, preventing rancidity of human milk, extending shelf life of human milk, and maintaining the nutritional properties of human milk. Specifically, the present disclosure provides, among other things, devices for storing preserved human milk and methods and compositions for preserving the same.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR MANAGEMENT OF MILK ALLOCATION
A system for managing milk allocation includes a server and a database. The database stores, for each lot of milk product, lot information that includes a listing parameter of donors, and a lot contribution parameter of each donor. The system also includes a device that reads the lot information associated with a unit of milk product to be administered to the subject, the lot information being for a lot used to fill that unit. The server receives a predetermined feed volume and feed information for a feed administered to the subject, the feed being generated using the unit of milk product. The server calculates the feed contribution of each donor to the feed, and also calculates a cumulative feed contribution of each donor for that subject. When the cumulative feed contribution exceeds a threshold, the server transmits a notification to a user devices of the cumulative feed contribution.
METHODS FOR OBTAINING STERILE MILK AND COMPOSITIONS THEREOF
The disclosure provides a simple and effective methods for sterilization of milk without degradation or loss of biologically active agents in the milk and the products produced by such methods.
System for removing water from human breast milk
Concentrating nutrients in breast milk may be achieved using an apparatus comprising a first sheet of material comprising a forward osmotic membrane, a second sheet of material sealed to the first sheet of material about a common outer perimeter thereof, the first sheet of material arranged so that water can traverse the forward osmotic membrane to an interior of the first and second sheets, and a dry carbohydrate within the interior of the first and second sheets exhibiting an osmotic draw property to draw water from un-concentrated, expressed human milk to form concentrated human milk. After a predetermined time, or upon the milk remaining after drawing of water through the membrane being a desired amount, the water draw can end.
Freeze-drying, storing, rehydrating and feeding using breast milk
The present invention is a system and method for performing freeze drying of small quantities of a liquid for personal use, wherein a liquid material is disposed within a single-use container, the container is then coupled to a small-scale freeze-drying unit which extracts liquid from the material in the container using a freeze-drying process, and the freeze-dried material is then left in the container and the container is stored until rehydration. The container may be a specialized single-use container that may be used to rehydrate the liquid and then fitted with a delivery device to feed an infant or child.
