Process for in situ production of microcapillary dispensing system for flexible pouch

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a process for producing a flexible pouch is provided. The process includes placing a capillary precursor element (CPE) between two opposing flexible films. The flexible films define a common peripheral edge. The CPE comprises an array of pins sandwiched between two opposing polymeric strips. The process includes positioning a first side of the CPE at a first side of the common peripheral edge and positioning a second side of the CPE at a second side of the common peripheral edge. The process includes first sealing, at a first seal condition, (i) the opposing polymeric strips to each other to form a matrix, and (ii) sealing the matrix to the two opposing flexible films. The process includes removing the array of pins from the matrix to form an in situ microcapillary strip.

Thermoplastic bags with phased deformation patterns

Thermoplastic bags with phased deformation patterns are described. In particular, one or more implementations comprise thermoplastic bags with ring rolling, SELFing, or other deformation patterns phased or aligned relative to the sides of the bags. The phased deformation patterns can allow for reducing or eliminating deformation patterns in areas of the thermoplastic bag in which side seals or other seals are formed. Additionally or alternatively, the phased deformation patterns can provide for zones that provide differing properties (e.g., functional or aesthetic). Such zones can vary aligned along a width of the thermoplastic bag and optionally also vary along a height of the thermoplastic bag. The differing zones can provide the thermoplastic bags with phased deformations that provide leak prevention, liquid containment, and other benefits.

Bottom and side gusseted package and method

A bottom and side gusseted package comprises a package body, a pair of inwardly extending side gussets, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the inwardly extending side gussets are formed, and the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, such that each individual sleeve forms a bottom gusset in a respective one of the gusseted packages.

A bag made of flexible material has a first and a second segment having cheeks along their selvages, the cheeks being joined together so as to form two gussets joining the segments together, one end of the bag perpendicular to the selvages being closed. The bag has a system of at least one reinforcing panel extending over a central part of the segments, between the gussets, each segment having a fold marking line, one opposite the other, in order to delimit a bottom at the closed end. Method and machine for manufacturing such a bag.

A method for manufacturing flexible bags, including: a first strip of flexible material is unwound as a continuous sheet in a longitudinal direction; a hem is formed on each edge of the first strip and the hems are glued over at least one length of a first or a second flap on one stitching face; a fold is formed in the first strip along a transverse folding line to fold down the first flap over the second flap against an internal face of the first strip, the fold bringing, for each edge, hem against hem so as to obtain the bonding of the hems, the strip is cut along a transverse section to form the bag at the end of the operations. Machine implementing the method and bag thus obtained.

A system for manufacturing bags with counting marks includes a workstation for making bags, and a coding machine for spraying counting marks on the bags. The coding machine includes a main body, a fixing structure and a spraying gun. The main body has ink cartridges for providing ink and a pressure mechanism to spray the ink through the spraying gun. The spraying gun is fixed to a fixing structure and connected to the main body via a cable such that the ink of the ink cartridges is operably moved from the ink cartridge to the spraying gun via the cable. The cable includes channels, each channel adapted for delivering a respective color of the ink. The spraying gun includes nozzles coupled to the channels for spraying the ink on the bags so as to form the counting marks thereon.

FLEXIBLE CONTAINERS COMPRISING A LOWER BASE OF ESSENTIALLY RECTANGULAR CONFIGURATION, METHOD, MODULE AND MACHINE FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE

A method for the manufacture of flexible containers of the type comprising a lower base and four side faces comprising supplying a W-shaped folded web determining an inverted V shaped bottom, with a central fold being distinguished, and the steps of inserting folded sheets between the opposite walls of the W-shaped web so that, at least, one bonding portion of each folded sheet is attached to the opposite walls and to the bottom of the web in the shape of an inverted V, and to bond these folded sheets to the web at said bonding portion or portions to determine dividing walls on the web prior to performing transverse cuts on the web to individualise a container, the cuts being distanced so that each container includes, at least, two of said dividing walls that will form respective side walls on each container.
