System and method of drying a material deposited on a web

A drying system and method of operating the drying system to dry a printed shrinkable web are disclosed. A web transport is adapted to convey the printed web between a heating apparatus and a cooling apparatus. The heating apparatus directs heat toward the web and the cooling apparatus concurrently chills the web. A temperature sensing device is adapted to develop an indication of a temperature of the web and the controller is adapted to adjust a temperature of at least one of the heating apparatus and the cooling apparatus in accordance with such indication.

THIN FILM ADHESIVE LABELS AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
20180082610 · 2018-03-22 ·

Thin film labels, systems, and methods of making and using thereof are described. The thin film systems contain a label and a carrier film, where the label contains an overprint layer, indicia, and an adhesive layer. The carrier film may be coated on one or both sides with a release liner. The adhesive layer can be any suitable adhesive, such as a pressure sensitive adhesive, a fluid activatable adhesive, a heat activated adhesive, or a contact activated adhesive. The label is formed by printed or coating one or more layers of precursor material on the carrier film using standard printers. Suitable precursor materials include, but are not limited to epoxys, solvent cast films, polyurethane dispersions, such as acrylic-urethane hybrid polymer dispersions and polyester-polyurethane dispersions. After the overprint layer dries or is cured, the indicia are printed onto the overprint layer, then the adhesive is coated on top of the indicia.

Dryers for Printed Media

Dryers (300) comprising a first surface (102) and a deflector (302). The first surface comprises at least one opening (104) through which air is forced during use to dry a printed media and the deflector comprises (302) a second surface to change the direction of airflow passing through the at least one opening. The deflector guides the direction of the airflow such that it flows substantially in a direction corresponding to the direction of travel (310) of the printed media.

Device and method for cleaning exhaust air

Provided is a device for cleaning exhaust air from a printing device by means of a heat exchanger. The device is configured to operate the heat exchanger in a standard phase such that an output temperature of the exhaust air exhibits a standard value such that hydrocarbons are condensed out of the exhaust air. The device is also configured to operate the heat exchanger in a regeneration phase such that the output temperature of the exhaust air exhibits a value. The value is reduced relative to the standard value, such that water is condensed out of the exhaust air.

Printing system

A printing system comprising a flexographic printing machine comprising at least one impression cylinder, on which the material in sheet form to be printed is wound and around which at least one printing station is arranged. Each printing station comprises a plate cylinder, which is provided with a graphic element, and an anilox roller. Downstream of each printing station there is at least one drying unit for the inks which emits at least one first air flow and aspirates at least one second air flow; there are also elements for acquiring a coverage value of the graphic element present on the plate cylinder of each printing station and elements for automatically adjusting a flow rate of the first air flow and of the second air flow as a function of the coverage value of the graphic element acquired by the acquisition elements.

Print agent drying apparatus

A method of drying print agent is disclosed. The method comprises blowing hot air onto an absorbent printable medium that bears water- and/or solvent-based print agent to reduce the viscosity of the print agent and to promote absorption of at least some water and/or solvent in the print agent by the printable medium; and, subsequent to the blowing of hot air, irradiating the printable medium with ultraviolet radiation to dry the unabsorbed portion of print agent on the printable medium. A printer ink drying apparatus and a print apparatus are also disclosed.

Arrangement for a corrugator

An arrangement for a corrugator for producing corrugated cardboard comprises a material web delivery device for delivering a material web and an edge cutting device, which is arranged downstream of the material web delivery device in a transport direction of the material web and has at least one edge cutting apparatus for edge-cutting the material web, and a digital printing device, which is arranged downstream of the edge cutting device in the transport direction of the material web for printing on the material web.
