Dryers for printed media
Dryers (300) comprising a first surface (102) and a deflector (302). The first surface comprises at least one opening (104) through which air is forced during use to dry a printed media and the deflector comprises (302) a second surface to change the direction of airflow passing through the at least one opening. The deflector guides the direction of the airflow such that it flows substantially in a direction corresponding to the direction of travel (310) of the printed media.
Method for configuring a dryer device in a security printing press, and a security printing press
A method is provided for configuring a drying device in a printing machine, in particular in a value document printing machine. The printing machine has at least one printing unit which comprises an imaging cylinder having a plurality of imaging printing elements or groups of imaging printing elements which are arranged in rows and columns on its circumference. A drying device has a dryer, by which print material, passing through the dryer, is subject to radiation. The drying device is configured for ongoing or upcoming production in such a way that the print material passing through the dryer, in order to be dried, is subjected to radiation in a plurality of tracks spaced from each other by non-irradiated tracks according to the same switch-on and switch-off sequence extending over cycle length. The configuration takes place with regard to one of a lateral position and a width of the tracks to be subject to two radiation by the dryer using product-related data or information regarding one of the number and the size and the position of value items to be printed next to each other on the print material portion and one of using data which comes from a device for image capture and an evaluation comprised by the printing machine or provided in parallel to such a device.
AIRFLOW FOR A MOTOR
An airflow device includes a motor to drive an impeller to cause a first airflow and a second airflow. A housing at least partially encloses the motor and impeller, and the housing defines at least a first path and a second path. Via the first path, the first airflow recirculates and is heated with the first path including a first wall with a nozzle array through which the first airflow passes to contact printed media passing external to the first wall. The second path receives a second airflow of air to travel alongside the motor and exit through a first port to join the first airflow at the impeller.
PRINTER DRYER MONITOR
A circuit includes a pulse generator to generate an output pulse in response to a signal representing rotation of a fan. A timing relationship between output pulses represents speed of the fan. A filter circuit converts the output pulse to a direct current (DC) voltage signal proportional to the speed of the fan. A monitor circuit monitors the DC voltage signal with respect to a predetermined threshold and generates a control signal that disables a printer dryer if the DC signal does not satisfy the predetermined threshold.
DRYER SYSTEM TO COOL PRINTER
A printer including a print bar and a dryer system. The print bar operates to deposit printing material in accordance with a print job. The dryer system operates to intake and heat air from an internal region in which one or more electrical components of the printer are located. The dryer system directs the heated air through multiple outlets that are acutely angled with respect to a location or media of deposited printing material, to dry the printing material while cooling the internal region of the printer.
Machine arrangement and method for sequential processing of sheet-type substrates
A machine arrangement, that sequentially processes sheet-type substrates, includes a plurality of different processing stations, one of which includes a non-impact printing device that prints the substrates. Further processing stations are a primer application device that primes the substrates and a dryer for drying the primer applied to the substrates. The primer application device and the dryer precede the non-impact printing device, in the direction of travel of the substrates. The processing station including the non-impact printing device, also includes a printing cylinder, on the circumference of which, the non-impact printing device that prints the substrates is arranged.
