Liquid discharge apparatus
A liquid discharge apparatus includes a conveying part configured to convey a medium in a conveying direction. A discharge head is configured to discharge a droplet onto a medium carried by the conveying part. A heating part is arranged at the downstream of the discharge head and configured to heat a medium while contacting with the medium attached with a droplet discharged by the discharge head. The heating part is arranged at a position contacting with at least part of the droplet present on the surface of the medium.

PRINTING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
A method for inspecting an ink discharge status based on a temperature change of an energy generating element comprises: calculating a difference value between a value obtained by statistics of pieces of information indicating ink discharge statuses obtained for a plurality of nozzles close to a target nozzle and the information obtained for the target nozzle; comparing the calculated difference value with a predetermined threshold; and judging the ink discharge status for the target nozzle based on a result of the comparison. This enables to appropriately detect a nozzle which is in a discharge failure status due to an ink droplet adhered to a discharge surface of a printhead or the like.
Control of laser printhead for writing or erasing content
A label modification unit may receive a label modification input that indicates a label modification associated with content being written to a label or erased from the label. The label modification unit may identify an area of the label that is associated with the label modification according to the label modification input. The label modification unit may determine, based on a size of the area, a spot size of a light beam that is configured to be emitted by a laser printhead to modify the content within the area. The label modification unit may determine, based on the spot size and the content, an optical path configuration for the laser printhead. The label modification unit may operate the laser printhead according to the optical path configuration to write the content to the area or erase the content from the area.

MICROELECTROMECHANICAL SHUTTERS FOR ORGANIC VAPOR JET PRINTING
A device includes a nozzle including a discharge end for discharging a fluid, a shutter plate including an aperture, the shutter plate positioned at the discharge end of the nozzle, a plurality of tethers coupled to the shutter plate, and a plurality of electrostatic actuators. Each of the plurality of electrostatic actuators are coupled to one or more of the plurality of tethers. The plurality of electrostatic actuators are configured to move the shutter plate between an open position and a closed position relative the discharge end of the nozzle. In the open position, the aperture is in fluid communication with the discharge end of the nozzle to permit fluid from the discharge end of the nozzle to flow through the aperture. In the closed position, at least a portion of the shutter plate inhibits fluid from the discharge end of the nozzle from flowing through the aperture.
Droplet dispensing device
A droplet jetting apparatus includes: a nozzle that ejects a jet of liquid droplets; a detector that detects a hand or an object in a flight path of liquid droplets from the nozzle; a pump including a suction portion for suction of liquid, and a discharge portion which is connected to the nozzle and discharges the liquid which has been sucked into the suction portion; a driver which by rotation of a cam, sucks liquid into the pump and discharges the liquid in a compressed state; and controller which actuates the driver. When the detector detects the hand or object, the controller actuates the pump by rotation of the cam, and ejects a jet of liquid in droplet form from the nozzle.

Drop-on-demand printer with bottle ink supply and keyed bottle cap
An ink bottle is mounted in a DOD printer with the ink bottle acting as an ink supply reservoir that supplies ink to a DOD print head. A unique cap is provided that is configured to be affixed to an end of the ink bottle via threads or the like. The cap can be provided with one or more mechanical keying features used to limit mounting of the cap and the bottle assembly to a correct receiver in the DOD printer. The cap can also be provided with a valve controlled ink passage that allows ink to flow out of the bottle through the cap and a valve controlled vent passage that allows air to enter the bottle through the cap.
