The method comprises: (a) providing a security document substrate having a security article integrated within or attached thereto, the security article being exposed within an aperture region in the security document substrate, the security article comprising a first optical effect layer that is visible within the aperture region, and; (b) applying, in said aperture region within which the security article is exposed, an array of substantially transparent refractive structures on the exposed security article, wherein the array of refractive structures cooperates with the first optical effect layer to exhibit a first optically variable effect.

SECURITY PAPERS AND DOCUMENTS

A security paper is provided that includes at least one layer of fibrous substrate and a security deposit thereon. The at least one layer has a main body of a substantially uniform thickness and at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. The reduced thickness is non-zero and at least 15% less than the thickness of the main body. The security deposit includes at least one element that partially covers the fibrous substrate exposed in the at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. Therefore, when the at least one layer is split through its thickness into first and second portions, a hole is provided in the first portion and the at least one element is provided on the fibrous substrate of the second portion. A method of manufacturing the security paper and security documents including the security paper are also provided.

SECURITY PAPERS AND DOCUMENTS

A security paper is provided that includes at least one layer of fibrous substrate and a security deposit thereon. The at least one layer has a main body of a substantially uniform thickness and at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. The reduced thickness is non-zero and at least 15% less than the thickness of the main body. The security deposit includes at least one element that partially covers the fibrous substrate exposed in the at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. Therefore, when the at least one layer is split through its thickness into first and second portions, a hole is provided in the first portion and the at least one element is provided on the fibrous substrate of the second portion. A method of manufacturing the security paper and security documents including the security paper are also provided.

PROCESSING TAPES FOR PREPARING LAMINATE ARTICLES

Processing tapes have special properties to permit them to be used to prepare laminate articles, such as security articles. The processing tapes include a backing, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer and a release surface covering the pressure sensitive adhesive layer. The backing is a dimensionally stable transparent polymeric film, and the surface on which the pressure sensitive is coated may be a treated surface. The pressure sensitive adhesive is a transparent pressure sensitive adhesive that includes a crosslinked (meth)acrylate-based polymer and has a refractive index in the range of 1.45-1.55. The (meth)acrylate-based polymer includes alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers and may include acidic monomers.
