A membrane covered panel and a membrane covered panel production method are provided wherein an elastomeric membrane, and preferably, an aqueous elastomeric resin-based membrane, is applied to a finished panel construct, prior to pressing of the membrane covered panel. The method is used to produce panels which can be used in the production of flooring materials, wall panels, furniture, countertops, and the like. The membrane is applied to a transfer film, which transfer film can be removed at any time prior to, or after the pressing operation. The panels produced have a durable but elastic surface which can protect the surfaces of the panel construct. The elastomeric covering on the panel construct also preferably provides a surface which is abrasion resistant, and provides better acoustical properties while providing a soft touch haptic surface.

A method of forming a heat-sealable thermoprintable tape includes providing a support layer having an open structure configured to support an extruded coating, applying a polyurethane coating onto a first side of the support layer and into open spaces of the open structure to form a top surface, and extruding a heat-sealable polymer onto a second side of the support layer opposite the first side and into the open spaces of the open structure. The polyurethane coating bonds to the heat-sealable polymer within the open structure of the support layer.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus for transferring an image onto a textile substrate using dye sublimation, the apparatus comprising: a flat support structure on which the textile substrate is laid with an ink transfer substrate; a heating element that rotates and applies heat while pulling the textile substrate and ink transfer substrate from the flat support structure towards the heating element; and a chevron-shaped brush with the vertex of the chevron pointing away from the heating element wherein the textile substrate and ink transfer substrate pass under the chevron-shaped brush before contacting the heat element. Also provided is a method for transferring an image onto a textile substrate using dye sublimation.
