WIND-BREAKING RIM, WHEEL AND BICYCLE
The disclosure provides a wind-breaking rim, a wheel and a bicycle. The wind-breaking rim includes a plurality of rim wave profiles. The plurality of rim wave profiles extend from an inner ring spoke mounting portion to two rim side walls and are symmetrically distributed with a rim width center surface as a plane of symmetry. The plurality of rim wave profiles are continuously arranged to form an annular wind-breaking structure. The rim wave profiles include adjacent crest portions and trough portions. A rim inner ring and the rim side walls having wave profiles can greatly reduce wind resistance.
Cycle wheel spoke and cycle wheel comprising such a spoke
A spoke including a metallic core covered, at least in its central portion, with a sheath of composite material comprised of an assembly of fibers embedded in a matrix, the core including an end portion adapted to be attached to the rim or the hub of a wheel, and a main body whose cross-sectional surface area is between 30% and 50% or, in a particular embodiment, between 35% and 45%, of the cross-sectional surface area of the aforementioned end portion. Furthermore, in the area of the main body, the sheath has a cross section between 150% and 500% or, in a particular embodiment, between 150% and 350%, of the cross section of the metallic core in the same area. The metal core includes two mechanical anchoring zones, positioned in the vicinity of its ends, on both sides of the main body.
Methods of manufacture for reinforced thermoplastic components
Disclosed herein are systems and techniques for producing complex components using a reinforced thermoplastic material. The complex components can include contoured or curved outer surfaces, and in some cases define a cavity. In certain examples, one or more thermoplastic materials are arranged to form a wheel component, such as that adapted to define a rim of the bicycle. Thermal bonding can be used to join multiple reinforced thermoplastic materials to one another in order to form a cavity of the wheel component or other complex shape. In certain examples, a portion of a tooling assembly can be pressurized to maintain a shape of the cavity during thermal bonding and cooling. This can remove the need for a sacrificial bladder or other structure that would maintain the shape of the cavity, allowing for a seamless final component, optionally absent indicia of bladder exit or other seams.

The disclosure relates to a stable one piece wheel, which is particularly suitable for cycles having an increased system weight such as electrically powered bicycles or cargo bikes, and a method producing said vehicle wheel. Said vehicle wheel includes an annular portion, a plurality of spokes and a hub portion integrally formed by mould injection of fibre reinforced or carbo nano tubes containing thermoplastic, wherein each of the plurality of spokes comprise a substantially Z-shaped cross section with a middle leg and a pair of outer legs, wherein the angle enclosed by each of the pair of outer legs and the middle leg is greater than a right angle and wherein the length of the middle leg increases from the annular portion toward the hub portion.

A wheel disc includes a hub located centrally within the wheel disc and defining a wheel axis. The wheel disc further includes an outer circumferential edge and a transition portion radially extending between the hub and the outer circumferential edge. The transition portion has a front surface and a rear surface such that the front surface has a relatively smooth profile and the rear surface has a plurality of concentric ring-shaped curvatures formed therein, thereby providing the transition portion with a variable thickness between the front and rear surfaces.
Integrally formed carbon fiber spoke and manufacturing method thereof
The present disclosure provides an integrally formed carbon fiber spoke and a manufacturing method thereof. The method includes manufacturing a carbon fiber core body and a first metal part and a second metal part at two ends; winding or wrapping the carbon fiber core body and the metal parts at the two ends with carbon fiber prepregs to form a semi-finished product; and putting the wound or wrapped semi-finished product into a forming mold for heat forming. In the present disclosure, the metal parts are wound or wrapped with the carbon fiber prepregs, such that sandwich structures are formed between the metal parts and carbon fiber materials to expand a bonding force of bonding interfaces.
COMPOSITE SPOKE ARRAY FOR A BICYCLE WHEEL
A wheel for a bicycle includes a central hub, a rim, and a first spoke array removably attached to the central hub and the rim. The first spoke array is at a first side of the wheel and includes a first central flange and a plurality of first spokes integral with and extending away from the first central flange, such that a first single part is formed. The wheel includes a second spoke array removably attached to the central hub and the radially inner portion of the rim. The second spoke array is at a second side of the wheel. The second side of the wheel is opposite the first side of the wheel. The second spoke array includes a second central flange and a plurality of second spokes integral with and extending away from the second central flange, such that a second single part is formed.
CARBON FIBER BICYCLE RIM AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure discloses a carbon fiber bicycle rim and a manufacturing method thereof. The carbon fiber bicycle rim comprises a ring-shaped rim body, which is integrally formed from carbon fiber. The rim body comprises an outer ring wall, an inner ring wall, and two side walls that connect the outer ring wall with the inner ring wall. The outer ring wall has an outer side that forms a semi-closed tire groove and an inner side that encloses together with the inner ring wall and the side walls to form a closed cavity. Connecting portions are arranged in the cavity. The connecting portions have one end that is connected to the outer ring wall and the other end that is connected to the side walls. The connecting portions enclose together with the outer ring wall and the side walls to form hollow channels.
Two piece wheel
A two-piece wheel may have a first section and a second section. The wheel has areas of varying diameter across its width, and the first second and the second section are joined at the area of the wheel with the smallest diameter. The first section can be a spoke section with spokes extending from the central hub and the second section can be a barrel section.
Racing wheel
A wheel is provided that combines the principles of a beadlock wheel and a liner wheel for improved performance in motor racing, in particular drag racing. The wheel has beadlock rings that fasten to inner and outer rims of the wheel to secure an outer tire, and the wheel has knurls interior to the inner and outer rims to secure an inner tire. Projections from the inner and outer rims are arranged to accommodate the various functions of the combination of the beadlock rings and the inner tire. The projections counterintuitively add weight to the wheel, yet the combination of beadlock rings and an inner tire results in improved stability and safety as well as faster times on the racetrack.
