Truck tire tread with decoupling void and associated decoupling void sipe
A tread (12) for a heavy truck tire is provided that has a bottom surface (14), a shoulder rib (16), and a sacrificial rib (20) located outboard from the shoulder rib (16) in a width direction. A decoupling void (30) is located between the shoulder rib (16) and the sacrificial rib (20). A decoupling void sipe (32) is in the shoulder rib (16) and opens at the shoulder rib upper surface (18) and at the decoupling void (30). The decoupling void sipe (32) extends in the thickness direction and is closer to the bottom surface (14) than the decoupling void (30) in the thickness direction.
Truck tire tread with decoupling void and associated decoupling void sipe
A tread for a heavy truck tire is provided that has a bottom surface (14), a shoulder rib (16), and a sacrificial rib (20) located outboard from the shoulder rib (16) in a width direction. A decoupling void (30) is located between the shoulder rib (16) and the sacrificial rib (20). First decoupling void sipes (32), second decoupling void sipes (100) and third decoupling void sipes (104) are in the shoulder rib (16), and one second decoupling void sipe (100) is between one first decoupling void sipe (32) and one third decoupling void sipe (104). The first and third decoupling void sipes (32, 104) are closer to the bottom surface (14) than is the decoupling void (30) in the thickness direction. The second decoupling void sipe (100) is not closer to the bottom surface (14) than is the decoupling void (30) to the bottom surface (14) in the thickness direction.
TIRE
A tire includes a tread portion provided with lateral grooves extending in a tire axial direction and blocks divided by the lateral grooves. At least one of the lateral grooves is provided with a first projected portion with a bottom protruding from a groove bottom of the at least one of the lateral grooves. The first projected portion includes at least one tie-bar portion connecting a pair of blocks with each other which is arranged adjacently through the at least one of the lateral groove, and a narrow rib-portion extending in a longitudinal direction of the at least one of the lateral groove from the at least one tie-bar portion without being connected to the pair of blocks.
HEAVY TRUCK TIRE TREAD WITH DECOUPLING SIPES IN THE SHOULDER AND SACRIFICIAL RIB
A tread for a heavy truck tire is provided that has a shoulder rib (22) with a shoulder rib upper surface (24), and a sacrificial rib (26) with a sacrificial rib upper surface (28). The sacrificial rib (26) is located outboard from the shoulder rib (22) in the lateral direction and engages the shoulder rib (22) such that an interface is present at engagement of the sacrificial rib and the shoulder rib. The sacrificial rib upper surface (28) is located closer to the central axis in the radial direction than the shoulder rib upper surface (24) is located to the central axis in the radial direction. A plurality of decoupling sipes (32) in the shoulder rib (22) extend through the interface and into the sacrificial rib (26). The decoupling sipes (32) are spaced from one another in the circumferential direction such that immediately successive ones of the decoupling sipes (32) are not in engagement at the interface.
Tread having turn around sipe
A heavy truck tire tread that has a shoulder rib and shoulder groove is provided. A sipe is in the shoulder rib that extends from the shoulder groove to the lateral outer surface. A first end of a teardrop of the sipe is located at the lateral outer surface, and a second end at the shoulder groove. A middle section of the teardrop is located between the first and second ends in the lateral direction. A first transition is located between the first end and the middle section, and a second transition is located between the second end and the middle section and they both extend in the lateral and thickness directions. The entire middle section is farther from the upper surface in the thickness direction than any portion of the first or second ends are to the upper surface in the thickness direction.
Tire sipe for heavy truck tread having handlebar shape
A heavy truck tire tread that has a rib is provided. A sipe is in the rib that extends from a first lateral surface to a second lateral surface. A first end of a teardrop is located at the first lateral surface, and a second end at the second lateral surface.
Tire sipe design with variable teardrop size having larger lateral midpoint
A tread for a heavy truck tire that has a rib is provided. A sipe is located in the rib and extends from a first lateral surface to a second lateral surface. A first end of a teardrop of the sipe is located at the first lateral surface, and a second end is at the second lateral surface. A middle section is located between the first and second ends, and a lateral midpoint of the teardrop is located at the middle section. A cross-section of the middle section at the lateral midpoint is greater in size than a cross-section of the first end. The cross-section of the middle section at the lateral midpoint is greater in size than a cross-section of the second end.
