Systems for detecting and monitoring tire pressure and temperature during a tire repair or replacement procedure are provided. The systems are configured to communicate a warning signal to a plurality of individuals (e.g., tire maintenance personnel) upon the tire pressure or temperature exceeding a defined threshold (e.g., upon the tire pressure or temperature entering a dangerous range). The system generally includes three categories of components, namely, components associated with a truck (or large work machine) and the tire being analyzed; a tire handler component; and a device that is worn (or held) by tire maintenance personnel, with such components being configured to wirelessly communicate with each other.

Vehicle wheel assembly illumination lamp

A vehicle wheel illumination assembly is provided. The assembly includes a light source located on the body of a vehicle near the wheel well and oriented to direct light onto a wheel assembly having a tire. A tire pressure indicator detects tire pressure of the tire. The light source illuminates the wheel assembly with a desired color to indicate a tire pressure status based on the detected tire pressure. A sensor senses a person near the wheel assembly and a controller activates the light source to illuminate the wheel assembly based on the sensed person to enable servicing of the tire.

A wheel rim device is adapted for a tire pressure detector to be mounted thereon, and includes a wheel rim body, an electric power generating mechanism, and a tire pressure indicator electrically coupled to the electric power generating mechanism. The tire pressure indicator includes a wireless communication module, a light emitting module, and a control module signally connected to the wireless communication module and the light emitting module. When the wheel rim body rotates, the electric power generating mechanism rotates and generates the electric power, the tire pressure indicator receives the electric power and is energized. The wireless communication module is adapted to wirelessly receive a tire pressure signal from the tire pressure detector. The control module is configured to obtain a tire pressure value from the tire pressure signal and control the light emitting module to emit light according to the tire pressure value.

AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION OF WARNING SIGNAL UPON OCCURRENCE OF UNSAFE CONDITION DETECTED BY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

A vehicle warning includes a tire pressure monitoring device disposed in each tire of the vehicle. Each tire pressure monitoring device obtains information regarding pressure within the associated tire and communicated the tire pressure information in a wireless manner. A receiver receives the communicated tire pressure information from each tire pressure monitoring device. A processor circuit, associated with the receiver, determines if the communicated tire pressure information from at least one of the tire pressure monitoring devices is significantly less than a tire pressure determined to be safe for vehicle operation and, if so, to generate a warning signal. A body control module, upon receiving the warning signal, automatically activates the hazard lights without driver input.

INDICATION OF VEHICLE STATUS USING LIGHT

A vehicle includes a powertrain, body, component, tire, lighting device, sensor, and controller. The lighting device is positioned with respect to the body or component, which is connected to the body, and illuminates in response to an output signal in a manner corresponding to a status of the vehicle. The sensor determines the status. The controller executes a method to receive, from a remote device, a proximity signal indicative of an operator of the vehicle being within range of the vehicle, and receives an input signal from the sensor indicative of the status of the vehicle. The status includes an ignition status and/or a low tire pressure status. The controller transmits the output signal to the lighting device in response to both the received input signal and the proximity signal to command illumination of the lighting device to thereby display the status of the vehicle.

On-board low-power vehicle condition indicator

A monitoring unit wirelessly monitors sensor(s) associated with a vehicle and includes (a) a radio frequency (RF) receiver that receives RF signals from one or more sensors; (b) a processing unit connected to the RF receiver that monitors information related received RF signals from the sensor(s); (c) the processing unit monitoring the received RF signals and a status of an output of the sensor(s) associated with the vehicle. The received RF signals may include information on a value of an output of the sensor and limits of acceptable values, and the processing unit generates an alarm when the value of the output is outside of the limits of acceptable values. The alarm may be a visual indication visible from the exterior of the vehicle.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OUTPUTTING VEHICLE TIRE PRESSURE RELATED AUDIBLE MESSAGES

A vehicle including a detection unit, an exterior speaker system and a processor is disclosed. The detection unit may be configured to detect a tire pressure of each vehicle tire and detect a user presence and a user location in proximity to the vehicle. The exterior speaker system may include a plurality of speakers configured to output audio signals. The processor may be configured to determine that a predefined condition, from a plurality of predefined conditions, may be met based on inputs obtained from the detection unit. The processor may further identify one or more speakers, from the plurality of speakers, to output an audible message based on a type of the predefined condition that may be met. The processor may further cause the speakers to output the audible message indicative of a tire pressure associated with one or more vehicle tires.

Tire pressure monitoring devices

A method of performing a configuration procedure for first and second tire pressure monitoring devices. The method includes loading the first tire pressure monitoring device with first configuration data, and subsequently transmitting, from the first tire pressure monitoring device, a first configuration data signal which encodes the first configuration data. The method includes subsequently loading the second tire pressure monitoring device with second configuration data, and subsequently ending the configuration procedure without transmitting a second configuration data signal which encodes the second configuration data.

Aircraft system and method

A method of communicating configuration data of a tire pressure monitoring device configured to be affixed to a wheel in use. The method includes, at the tire pressure monitoring device, receiving a request to confirm configuration data, and responsive to receipt of the request to confirm configuration data, transmitting a configuration data signal which encodes the configuration data. The configuration data signal is configured to be received and understood by a human. The configuration data signal is indicative of any of an aircraft wheel location at which the tire pressure monitoring device is intended to be located, and a security code representative of security parameters of the tire pressure monitoring device.
