Further disclosed herein is a method of installing a grip onto a tool or piece of sports equipment, including providing a grip having a tubular body; grinding an open first end of the body, wherein the open first end comprises a greatest diameter closest to the exterior of the bore and tapers internally at an angle towards the interior of the bore; providing a shaft or handle; applying an adhesive to a top portion of the handle; sliding the handle into the grip bore until the shaft contacts the a capped second end of the grip; and coupling a surface of the bore to the handle by allowing the adhesive to dry.

The fishing rod handle assembly generally includes a handle positioned transverse to the position of the standard fishing rod, such that a fisherman can utilize both hands in a side-by-side orientation for increased control and strength when pulling up on the standard fishing rod and reeling in fish. Further, the fishing rod handle assembly generally includes one or more collars connected to the handle, the one or more collars having splined recesses therein for detachably connecting the standard fishing rod to the fishing rod handle assembly, such that the fishing rod handle assembly firmly grips the standard fishing rod to prevent twisting, but does not damage or break the standard fishing rod.
