Another method includes: receiving data of a plurality of measurements of temperature with associated times, the data measured by a tire monitoring device affixed to an aircraft wheel; determining a gradient of the temperature from the data; and predicting a future tire gas temperature using the gradient.

The invention relates to equipment, devices and methods for testing a calibrated leak or passage of pressurized gas from a tire. In one example, a test plug including a calibrated cross section orifice and a predetermined gas flow rate is connected to a tire. The test plug applies a pressure opening the tire valve member to release gas from the tire through the test plug. In one example, a TPMS sensor and a TPMS measurement tool are used to measure the decrease of air pressure in the tire through the test plug and determine if the TPMS sensor is operating properly. In one example, a plurality of test plugs with different gas flow rates are provided. A method for testing the calibrated leak using the test plug is further disclosed.

In a particular embodiment, a tire monitoring that comprises a low power receiver and a transceiver receives, at the low power receiver, a radio frequency (RF) activation signal from a remote device, transitions to a wake state in response to receiving the activation signal, and transmits, via the transceiver, an RF response signal including an identification code to the remote device. The remote device, such as a handheld activation tool or an activation station in an assembly line, transmits the activation signal, receives the response signal, and associates the identification code of tire monitoring sensor with a location on the vehicle. The identification code and location may be provided to the vehicle control system.

The method includes, at the control device: receiving an input and, responsive to the input: identifying a plurality of tyre monitoring devices within a wireless communication range of the control device, wherein the identifying comprises receiving responses from each tyre monitoring device within the wireless communication range, each response including a vehicle identifier associated with a vehicle upon which the tyre monitoring device is installed; selecting a vehicle identifier to be the subject of the request to check a tyre pressure based on the received responses; and sending a request to check tyre pressure to at least one tyre monitoring device associated with the selected vehicle identifier.
