Strategy for returning to service a wheel unit declared to have become detached in a motor vehicle tyre pressure monitoring system TPMS

A method and TPMS system including a central unit and wheel units. Each wheel unit including a pressure sensor, regularly transmitting pressure and radial acceleration measurements to the central unit. The latter used to calculate a detachment parameter for the wheel unit. A test module determines whether each wheel unit is in a detached or operational state. A return-to-service module toggles the state of a wheel unit from the detached to the operational state if: since the wheel unit was declared detached, a pressure less than or equal to a reference atmospheric pressure is measured while the vehicle was at rest, and if after this rest, at least one of: the detachment parameter has not attained a nominal detachment threshold in a first movement time; an attachment index corresponding to a particular shape of a measurement signal of the wheel unit has been detected under specific evaluation conditions, occurs.

A method of determining a status of a tyre monitoring device is disclosed. The tyre monitoring device includes a counter initiated on a first use of the tyre monitoring device on a wheel and the method includes: determining a current value of the counter; determining a status of the tyre monitoring device based on the current value of the counter; and providing an indication based on the determined status. In some examples, the status is a remaining service lifetime and the indication may be a replacement notification. A method of cross-checking data between tyre monitoring devices is also disclosed. The method includes receiving data from a plurality of tyre monitoring devices associated with respective tyres of a same vehicle; comparing the received data from different ones of the plurality of tyre monitoring devices; determining inconsistent data associated with at least one of the plurality of tyre monitoring devices based on the comparison; and providing an indication of the inconsistent data.

ABNORMALITY MONITORING SYSTEM
20220063356 · 2022-03-03 ·

An abnormality monitoring system includes gas sensors provided in the cavity or the vicinity of a tire provided in a vehicle, a determination unit that determines the presence of an abnormality in the tire on the basis of the detection results of the gas sensors, and an output unit that outputs data based on the determination result of the determination unit. The gas sensors detect a volatile substance when abnormal heat build-up occurs in the tire. The volatile substance is a substance derived from an additive added when a tire is manufactured.

A system for determining abnormalities of a TPMS that includes a pressure sensor that senses a pressure inside a tire and transmits sensed pressure data as a radio signal, a reception unit that receives the radio signal from the pressure sensor and measures strength of the received radio signal, and a determination unit that determines an abnormality of the TPMS based on the radio signal received, and the strength of the radio signal measured, by the reception unit.

METHOD FOR DETECTING A FAULTY ARRANGEMENT OF A SENSOR MODULE IN A SENSOR MODULE HOLDER IN A TYRE MONITORING SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE AND TYRE MONITORING SYSTEM

Disclosed are a method and a system for detecting a faulty arrangement of a sensor module in a sensor module holder in a tire of a vehicle equipped with a tire monitoring system. The detection of a faulty arrangement of a sensor module may be performed by ascertaining on the basis of a comparison of the operating parameters determined by the sensor modules of the tire monitoring system that there is for this sensor module a discrepancy, dependent on a speed of the vehicle, between the operating parameter and an operating parameter to be expected for this sensor module.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for upgrading a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) diagnostic tool. The TPMS diagnostic tool is provided with a wireless communications interface. The method includes: obtaining latest version information of the TPMS diagnostic tool from a server through the wireless communications interface, the latest version information including a latest version number and an upgrade path, the upgrade path being used for indicating a storage location of an upgrade package of the TPMS diagnostic tool in the server; obtaining a current version number of the TPMS diagnostic tool; obtaining an upgrade package corresponding to the upgrade path from the server through the wireless communications interface when it is determined that the latest version number is different from the current version number; and upgrading the TPMS diagnostic tool according to the upgrade package. In this way, not only the TPMS diagnostic tool can be upgraded in a timely manner, but also a process of upgrading the TPMS diagnostic tool can be simplified.

Device and method for detecting abnormal state of tire

A device for detecting an abnormal state of a tire includes a wireless transceiver spaced apart from the tire and coupled to a vehicle, where the wireless transceiver transmits a radio signal to a ground surface and acquires delay information required to receive a reflected wave from the ground surface, and a control module that calculates a reference distance between the wireless transceiver and the ground surface based on the delay information, and detects an abnormal state of the tire, based on a reference distance change.
