AIRCRAFT TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
20170087943 · 2017-03-30 ·

A monitoring system, having a processor, provides pressure warnings associated with a tire of an aircraft When the aircraft is stationary, the processor operates in a maintenance mode and receives a first pressure measurement indicating a pressure of the tire; compares the first pressure measurement with a maintenance mode low pressure threshold, and causes the flight deck display to display a low pressure warning associated if the first pressure measurement is below the maintenance mode low pressure threshold. When the aircraft is in motion, the processor operates in a flight mode and receives a second pressure measurement indicating a pressure of the tire, compares the second pressure measurement with an abnormal pressure threshold which is lower than the maintenance mode low pressure threshold, and causes the flight deck display to display an abnormal pressure warning if the second pressure measurement is below the abnormal pressure threshold.

A retread guidance system is disclosed, comprising sensors coupled to a tire for measuring temperature and pressure, and a memory storing logs for temperature, pressure, and tire events. A controller with processors detects pressure and temperature events, logs them to the respective logs, and determines retread suitability for a tire casing based on the logs and retread factors.

Method and apparatus for inflation of a vehicle tire

A method of inflating a tire of a vehicle includes connecting the vehicle to an external air pump, using a connection, to provide communication of information between the vehicle and the external air pump. The method also includes transmitting information from the vehicle to the external air pump over the connection and controlling the external air pump based upon the communicated information to provide air to a vehicle tire, connected to the air pump, until the communicated information indicates that the tire has reached a desired pressure level, at which point the air pump ceases provision of air to the vehicle tire.

METHOD FOR READING INFORMATION CONTAINED IN AN RFID CHIP EMBEDDED IN A VEHICLE TIRE

A method for reading information contained in an RFID chip embedded in the mass of a tire of a motor vehicle wheel equipped with a wheel unit forming part of a tire pressure monitoring system, wherein the wheel unit detects, irrespective of the condition of the wheel (whether or not it is punctured), a wheel removal operation and then an operation for re-inflating the new tire, and the RFID chip is polled by the wheel unit when the re-inflation operation has been detected.
