A suspension includes: a cylinder; a piston rod including a piston provided at one end-side, and inserted in the cylinder together with the piston; an outer tube part opened at the one end-side, a position of which relative to the piston rod is fixed at the other end-side, and configured to receive therein at least a part of the cylinder; and a tubular rolling diaphragm having one end disposed at the cylinder and the other end fixed to the outer tube part, and configured to roll in conjunction with displacement of the piston rod with respect to the cylinder. The rolling diaphragm becomes convex toward the other end-side of the outer tube part and is accommodated in the outer tube part, upon contraction of the suspension.

An adapter piece may be employed to connect a damper tube and an air spring piston in a non-positive manner. The adapter piece may comprise a spring region. The adapter piece may also include a first ring region and a second ring region, and the spring region may be positioned between the first ring region and the second ring region. Further, an air spring damper system may utilize the spring region of such an adapter piece to connect a damper tube and an air spring piston in a non-positive connection. The damper tube may include a bulge with a supporting element positioned on the bulge. The adapter piece may lie on the supporting element.

Jounce bumpers and spring assemblies including same

A jounce bumper can be dimensioned for securement along an end member of a gas spring assembly adjacent a sensing device. The jounce bumper can include a bumper body with a sensing passage extending their through such that the sensing device can communicate through the sensing passage. A gas spring assembly including a sensing device and such a jounce bumper as well as a suspension system including one or more of such gas spring assemblies are also included.

Air spring standing piston bearing

An air spring assembly for a vehicle having a damper body decoupled from a piston, allowing the damper to rotate freely without inducing torsion into the piston. The air spring assembly includes a damper body, where part of the damper body is disposed in a piston, and a decoupling mechanism connected to the damper body. The decoupling mechanism allows for rotation of the damper body relative to the piston, preventing torsion from being transferred from the damper body to the piston. The decoupling mechanism includes an adapter ring connected to the damper body, and a rotatable machine element surrounding the damper body. The adapter ring is surrounded part of the piston, and the rotatable machine element is adjacent the adapter ring. The inner wall of the piston is in contact with the rotatable machine element, such that the rotatable machine element facilitates relative rotation between the piston and damper body.

Suspension module having a subframe assembly

A suspension module having a subframe assembly. The subframe assembly may include a lower subframe that may pivotally support at least one lower control arm. An upper control arm mounting plate may be mounted to the lower subframe. The upper control arm mounting plate may pivotally support an upper control arm.

Air spring hanging piston bearing

An air spring assembly for a vehicle having a damper body which is decoupled from a piston, allowing the damper to rotate freely without inducing torsion into the piston. The air spring assembly includes a damper body, and a decoupling mechanism connected to the damper body, where a portion of the decoupling mechanism surrounds the damper body. A piston is connected to the decoupling mechanism such that the decoupling mechanism allows for rotation of the damper body relative to the piston, preventing torsion from being transferred from the damper body to the piston. The decoupling mechanism also includes a rotatable machine element, such as a bearing, surrounding the damper body, and the bearing is adjacent the cup portion such that the rotatable machine element facilitates relative rotation between the damper body and the spring cup portion to limit torsion applied to the piston from the damper body.

The invention relates to an air spring module having an air spring and a shock absorber for the suspension and damping of vibrations of a motor vehicle chassis. The air spring has a rolling bellows which is fastened to an air spring cover and a rolling piston. The rolling bellows at least partially delimits a first working space filled with compressed air. At least two working spaces are provided in the rolling piston, which are separated from one another by a partition and connectable to the first working space via switchable valves arranged in the rolling piston. In order to achieve simple production and installation as well as a low overall height, the rolling piston has at least two working spaces which are arranged adjacent to one another.

Valve device for an air spring strut

Disclosed is a valve device for an air spring strut of an air suspension system of a motor vehicle, having a valve unit and a housing which receives the valve unit and has a bearing face for mounting a head bearing of the air spring strut on the valve device. The housing has a surface section for supporting the valve device in the air spring strut in a positively locking manner, with the result that a force which is exerted by the head bearing on the valve device can be introduced via the housing into the air spring strut. A supporting section is configured on the surface section of the housing, onto which supporting section an exchange element which can be disconnected from the housing can be arranged from the direction of a center longitudinal axis of the valve device for supporting on the housing in a positively locking manner.

Air spring hybrid piston assembly

An air spring includes a damper, a support ring associated with a portion of the damper, and a piston assembly. The piston assembly includes a first piston member press-fitted to the damper, and a second piston member fitted with the first piston member. The second piston member is supported by the support ring. The two-piece piston assembly allows for a large package for volume at low cost.
