ACTIVE AIR CURTAIN

Systems, methods, and apparatuses are described herein that provide a localized temperature solution to a local temperature issue. Sunloading on one side of a vehicle can create a localized heating issue for an occupant on the same side of the vehicle. An air curtain system on the driver's side of the vehicle can detect high sunloading and then direct airflow onto an interior surface of the vehicle such as a door and window. The airflow provides an ambient cooling solution between the occupant and the sun to mitigate the effects of high sunloading. The air curtain system can receive a further input to redirect airflow away from the interior surface and onto the occupant to provide a direct cooling solution to further mitigate the effects of high sunloading. Other features, including sensors and a control unit, for controlling the air curtain system are described herein.

Electric vehicle HVAC system which cools battery and controls grille shutter based on coolant pressure

Coolant flowing from a compressor passes through a heat exchanger and opening-degree adjustable type of expansion valves for heating, and an external heat exchanger. The coolant passing through the external heat exchanger is capable of passing through an expansion valve and a heat exchanger for cooling, and an expansion valve and a heat exchanger for cooling a battery. A grille shutter to change an introduction state of traveling air is provided in front of the external heat exchanger. When pressure of the coolant (particularly, pressure of the coolant at a timing after the coolant passes through the external heat exchanger) is a specified pressure or lower, the grille shutter is closed, whereby the heat-exchange performance of the external heat exchanger is lowered.

AIR CONDITIONER FOR VEHICLE
20200317020 · 2020-10-08 ·

An air conditioner is used in a vehicle that includes a seat configured to be switchable between a first state in which a front end side part of a seat portion is located at a front of the vehicle with respect to a backrest portion, and a second state in which the front end side part of the seat portion is located at a different position from a position of the front end side part in the first state. The vehicle air conditioner includes an air-conditioning unit, and an air outlet configured to blow air from the air-conditioning unit. The vehicle air conditioner also includes a blowing passage member defining a blowing passage that guides the air blown from the air outlet to an upper side of the seat portion when the seat is in the second state.

Vehicle cabin air register

A vehicle cabin air register includes a tube shaped retainer disposed in a register opening, a bezel connected to the retainer, and a first fin axially supported by a pivot axis at an inner side of the retainer. A restricting mechanism restricts a pivot range of the first fin. The vehicle cabin air register also includes a second fin including a pair of second fin main bodies, an operation knob attached to a center portion of the first fin, a first flow path, and a second flow path. A minimum gap of the first flow path is narrower than a minimum gap of the second flow path. When the register is in a restricted state, the downstream end of the operation knob and the downstream end of the other second fin main body of the pair of second fin main bodies are positioned downstream of the bezel.

AIR VENTS FOR THE INTERIOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
20200290432 · 2020-09-17 ·

An air vent for an interior of a motor vehicle, the air vent including a housing including a longitudinal housing axis; an air outlet opening formed by the housing; at least one air louver that is arranged in the housing and that directs an air flow that exits from the air outlet opening, wherein the air outlet opening is provided with an expanded metal cover that includes loops that are enveloped by bars that include bar walls, wherein the bar walls are arranged at a bar wall angle relative to the longitudinal hosing axis, wherein the at least one air louver is arranged at an air louver angle relative to the longitudinal housing axis and includes a proximal air louver edge that is proximal to the expanded metal cover and a distal air louver edge that is distal from the expanded metal cover.

Infotainment system with air-vent control

An air vent assembly includes a cover member having an inlet for allowing a flow of air to enter the cover member. The cover member also has a vent extending from the inlet for allowing a flow of air to exit the cover member. The vent includes a first vent portion, and a second vent portion located adjacent to the first vent portion. The first vent portion has a first set of flow guiding vanes disposed therein. The second vent portion has a second set of flow guiding vanes disposed therein. Each of the vanes is spaced apart from one another and pivotally coupled to a pair of opposing walls of the cover member. The first and second sets of flow guiding vanes are independently moveable with respect to each other using an actuating mechanism for providing a variety of flow-guiding positions one of which includes a split flow-guiding position.

Climate control system with slit-vent fluid delivery

A climate control system includes a fluid delivery module. The fluid delivery module includes a housing defining a fluid flow path between an inlet and an outlet with the outlet having an elongated, slit-like shape and is not visible within a sight line of a user. The fluid delivery module further includes a fluidic control device disposed within the housing between the inlet and the outlet and movable to vary a direction of the fluid flow path within the housing.

Ventilation system and ventilation method for a motor vehicle

A ventilation system for a motor vehicle, having a multiplicity of controllable air outlets, an input unit for selecting at least one flow target position in a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle from a multiplicity of selectable flow target positions. The selectable flow target positions can be displayed on a display unit, a control unit which is connected to the input unit and to the air outlets and is designed to set an outflow direction of at least one of the air outlets on the basis of at least one selected flow target position. In this context, at least two of the selectable flow target positions on the display unit are combined to form a flow target region with little draft.

METHOD FOR DRIVING AN ACTUATOR OF AN HVAC SYSTEM
20200223287 · 2020-07-16 ·

A method for driving an actuator of an HVAC system having a region of mechanical play is provided, and which comprises the steps of: a] monitoring a position of a movable member of the HVAC system or at least one rotatable element of the actuator to determine when the region of mechanical play has been entered or exited; and b] ramping a drive power to the actuator between a zero-velocity drive power and a steady-state-velocity drive power during the region of mechanical play. The HVAC system implementing the above method is not only capable of reducing the noise produced by an HVAC system, but is also capable of reducing an over-powering of the actuator when there is a low load on the system.

VEHICLE AIR-CONDITIONING METHOD AND VEHICLE AIR-CONDITIONING DEVICE
20200223283 · 2020-07-16 · ·

A vehicle air-conditioning device includes: an air-conditioning device having an all-seat air-conditioning mode in which air-conditioned air is blown out to occupants of all seats in a vehicle cabin and an individual air-conditioning mode in which the air-conditioned air is blown out to some of the occupants of all seats; a selection device used to select the all-seat air-conditioning mode and the individual air-conditioning mode; and a controller configured to control the air-conditioning device in an air-conditioning mode selected in the selection device.
