Active air curtain

Systems, methods, and apparatuses are described herein that provide a localized temperature solution to a local temperature issue. Sunloading on one side of a vehicle can create a localized heating issue for an occupant on the same side of the vehicle. An air curtain system on the driver's side of the vehicle can detect high sunloading and then direct airflow onto an interior surface of the vehicle such as a door and window. The airflow provides an ambient cooling solution between the occupant and the sun to mitigate the effects of high sunloading. The air curtain system can receive a further input to redirect airflow away from the interior surface and onto the occupant to provide a direct cooling solution to further mitigate the effects of high sunloading. Other features, including sensors and a control unit, for controlling the air curtain system are described herein.

Unique airflow delivery path for independent rear zone in tri or quad HVAC system

An air-handling system includes an evaporator core and a downstream arranged heater core disposed in an air-handling casing. A primary flow path is formed within the air-handling casing and leads to a primary zone of a passenger compartment. The primary flow path is divided into a primary cool air pathway bypassing the heater core and a primary warm air pathway passing through the heater core. A secondary flow path is formed within the air-handling casing and leads to a secondary zone of the passenger compartment. The secondary flow path includes a secondary cool air pathway branching from the primary flow path downstream of the evaporator core and a secondary warm air pathway branching from the primary flow path downstream of the heater core. The secondary cool air pathway bypasses the heater core and the secondary warm air pathway passes through the heater core.

VEHICLE AIR VENT WITH AUTOMATED VANE CONTROL

The present disclosure relates to a vehicle air vent comprising a body, an actuator, a first set of vanes, a first vane drive system moveably connected to the first set of vanes, a second set of vanes, and a second vane drive system moveably connected to the second set of vanes. The actuator is positioned to, in operation, provide force to both the first and second vane drive systems in a single direction, thus causing movement of both the first and second sets of vanes.

Systems and methods to protect the health of occupants of a vehicle

This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for protecting the health of occupants of a vehicle. In an example method, a health monitoring apparatus in a vehicle evaluates an individual and detects a symptom of a contagious disease. The individual may be already seated in a first seat in the vehicle or intends to enter the vehicle. The health monitoring apparatus identifies a second seat that has a pre-defined spatial separation distance from the first seat. The pre-defined spatial separation distance can exceed a threshold spatial separation distance selected to provide health protection against the contagious disease. The health monitoring apparatus issues an advisory to the individual to occupy the second seat. In another example method, the health monitoring apparatus may adjust an airflow pattern in the vehicle so as to provide directional airflows to protect various occupants of the vehicle against an airborne contagious disease.

METHOD OF CLIMATE CONTROL FOR AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE

An air flow control system includes a plenum having an air inlet, a first air outlet, a second air outlet and a third air outlet, a vent door, an air guide, carried on the vent door, and an actuator. The actuator displaces the vent door between a first position closing the first air outlet and a second position opening the first air outlet. A climate control method for an autonomous vehicle is also provided.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING VENTS OF A VEHICLE

An assembly for a ventilation system of a vehicle is provided. The assembly is configured to use a single actuator to control direction of a vent and additionally control the flow rate of that vent. The assembly may comprise a single rotatable control member with two routes, one route used for controlling flow rate and one route for controlling flow direction. Each route may have a straight portion and curved portion.

Apparatus and method for controlling the distribution of air in an HVAC system

An air distribution plenum for controlling air flow in a vehicle HVAC system includes an air inlet and first and second air outlets. A movable member substantially blocks the first and second air outlets when in a first position, blocks only the first air outlet in a second position, blocks only the second air outlet in a third position, and permits air to flow through both the first and second air outlets when in a fourth position.

Blower unit of air conditioner for vehicle

The present invention relates to a two-layered blower unit of an air conditioner for a vehicle, which includes a means for smoothly guiding axially flowing air to flow in a radial direction and has optimized structure and arrangement for fixing the guide means.

Vehicle air conditioning device

A vehicle air conditioning device comprises an instrument panel, a door that includes an overlapping portion where part of the door overlaps with the instrument panel in a closed state of the door, and a door blower outlet that opens toward a vehicle cabin interior, a first opening that is open toward the door, a second opening that is open toward the instrument panel, an air conditioning unit body, a first duct that that has a length direction end portion connected to the first opening, a second duct that has a length direction end portion connected to the door blower outlet, and a fin member respectively provided at the first opening and the second opening.

DEVICE FOR MANIPULATING AN ACTUATOR, IN PARTICULAR IN THE FORM OF A THROTTLE OR CLOSURE FLAP, OF AN AIR VENT, AN AIR VENT COMPRISING SUCH A DEVICE AS WELL AS A METHOD FOR MANIPULATING AN ACTUATOR, IN PARTICULAR IN THE FORM OF A THROTTLE OR CLOSURE FLAP, OF AN AIR VENT

A device for manipulating an actuator, designed in particular in the form of a throttle valve or closure flap, of an air vent, wherein the actuator is optionally designed as an air-directing element or as part of a package of air-directing elements. The device has a motor-operated, in particular electromotive, drive, which is or can be coupled mechanically to the actuator in such a way that the actuator can be adjusted relative to the housing of the air vent by activating the drive. The device also has a sensor system for, in particular, directly sensing a real actual position of the actuator relative to the housing of the air vent.
