BATTERY CHILLER CONTROL WITH ELECTRONIC EXPANSION DEVICE
A climate-control system for a vehicle includes a refrigerant subsystem having a chiller and an electronic expansion valve (EXV) arranged to selectively route refrigerant to the chiller. The vehicle further includes a coolant subsystem having conduit arranged to circulate coolant through a traction battery and the chiller. The coolant subsystem further includes a first temperature sensor configured to measure coolant circulating into an inlet side of the chiller and a second temperature sensor configured to measure coolant circulating out of an outlet side of the chiller. A vehicle controller is configured to, in response to the battery exceeding a threshold temperature and cabin air conditioning being requested, command opening of the EXV to a predetermined position and adjust the position based on a measured coolant temperature difference between the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor.

The thermal management system includes: a passenger compartment thermal management subsystem, including a compressor, a first throttle, and an evaporator configured to refrigerate the passenger compartment, where the compressor, the first throttle, and the evaporator are controlled to communicate with each other in sequence to form a first refrigerant circuit, the passenger compartment thermal management subsystem further includes a condenser, and the condenser is disposed between the compressor and the first throttle and able to exchange heat with the first refrigerant circuit; a heat emitting component thermal management subsystem, including a heat emitting component and a cooling water tank configured to cool the heat emitting component, and a control valve system, connected to the passenger compartment thermal management subsystem and the heat emitting component thermal management subsystem.

A heat pump system for a vehicle, which makes refrigerant bypass an external heat exchanger and turns off a fan mounted on the external heat exchanger when temperature of the outdoor air is lower than setting temperature and the vehicle enters into an idle state in a heat pump mode, thereby continuously operating the heat pump mode even in the below zero temperature so as to keep heating performance, reducing consumption of electrical power without needing to operate an electric heater, and preventing excessive noise of a fan when the vehicle enters into an idle state in the below zero temperature.

An injection type heat exchange module includes an outer tank composed of an upper chamber and a lower chamber separated from each other, an inner tank disposed inside the upper chamber of the outer tank to be heat-exchangeable with the refrigerant and connected to discharge the refrigerant to the compressor, the evaporator, or the lower chamber of the outer tank, a first valve disposed on an upper end of the inner tank; a second valve rotatably coupled to a lower end of the inner tank, and an actuator simultaneously connected to the first valve and the second valve to be operated to simultaneously rotate the first valve and the second valve, and a heat management system for a vehicle applying the same.
INJECTION-TYPE HEAT EXCHANGE MODULE AND VEHICLE THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING SAME
An injection-type heat exchange module includes an outer tank configured with upper and lower chambers, the upper chamber being connected in such a manner that refrigerant is introduced thereinto from an outer condenser or an inner condenser, and the lower chamber being connected in such a manner that the refrigerant is introduced thereinto from an evaporator and that the refrigerant is discharged therefrom to a compressor, an inner tank arranged inside the outer tank and connected in such a manner that the refrigerant is discharged therefrom to the compressor or the evaporator; a first valve arranged in an upper end portion of the inner tank, a second valve arranged in a lower end portion thereof, and an actuator connected to both the first valve and the second valve and operating in such a manner that the first and second valves are rotated at the same time.

Disclosed is a heat pump system for a vehicle, providing for selective heat-exchanging heat energy generated from a coolant with a coolant upon condensing and evaporation of the coolant to control an internal temperature of the vehicle using the heat-exchanged coolant of a low temperature or a high temperature. The heat pump system adjusts a temperature of a battery module by using one chiller that performs heat exchange between a refrigerant and a coolant and improves the heating efficiency of the vehicle using a waste heat of an electrical component and a battery module.
