Heat pump system for vehicle with battery and electronic component cooling

A heat pump system for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a battery coolant line connected to a battery module. A cooling device selectively connected to the battery coolant line includes a radiator and a first water pump, to circulate a coolant therein. A first chiller is disposed in the battery coolant line and connected to a refrigerant line of an air conditioner to adjust a temperature of a coolant. A second chiller is selectively connected to the coolant line and selectively connected to the refrigerant line to increase a temperature of a coolant by selectively exchanging heat between the coolant and a refrigerant flowing into the second chiller. An integrated control valve is connected to the refrigerant line, the first connecting line, and the second connecting line to adjust a refrigerant flow direction and to selectively expand a refrigerant passing through the integrated control valve.

A heat pump system for vehicle may include first cooling apparatus that includes first radiator and first water pump connected by first coolant line, second cooling apparatus that includes second radiator and second water pump connected by second coolant line, battery module provided in battery coolant line selectively connectable to second coolant line through first valve, and chiller provided in battery coolant line, connected to refrigerant line of air conditioner through refrigerant connection line, and adjusting coolant temperature by heat-exchanging selectively received coolant with refrigerant, wherein main heat-exchanger provided is connected to first and second coolant lines to receive coolant circulating first and second cooling apparatuses, and wherein main heat-exchanger is connected to first and second connection lines connected to refrigerant line through refrigerant valve to condense or evaporate refrigerant through heat-exchanging with coolant such that flow direction of refrigerant is changed depending on mode of vehicle.

An inlet of the second heat exchange portion communicates with the outlet of the first heat exchanger. An outlet of the second heat exchange portion communicates with an inlet of the compressor. In a heating mode, the function of the second heat exchanger is reduced, thereby the heating capacity of the heat pump system is improved.

A thermal management system comprises a coolant system and a separate refrigerant system that are both selectively interconnectable to a chiller. The coolant system includes a radiator and a plurality of fluid lines forming a selectable interconnectable array of coolant loops. This array includes an energy storage system coolant loop and an electrical drive system coolant loop that are separately interconnectable with the radiator and that control the temperature of the energy storage system and the electrical drive system of an electric vehicle. The refrigerant system includes a condenser, an internal heat exchanger, and an array of refrigerant loops that control the temperature of a cabin of the electric vehicle. Together, the coolant system and the refrigerant system provide multiple thermal control modes for components of an electric vehicle.
