A method for air conditioning an electric or hybrid vehicle includes preconditioning a high voltage accumulator of the electric or hybrid vehicle. The electric or hybrid vehicle has an interior and the high voltage accumulator is air conditioned with an air-conditioning unit having a determined cooling potential. The high voltage accumulator has a current HVS temperature. The interior has a current interior temperature. During the preconditioning, the high voltage accumulator is supercooled in a preconditioning mode with the air-conditioning unit to an HVS temperature that is below an HVS operating temperature.

An ejector-type refrigeration cycle includes an ejector module integrated with a gas-liquid separation device. A length of a suction pipe that connects a gas-phase refrigerant outflow port of the ejector module to a suction port of a compressor is set to be shorter than a length of an outlet pipe that connects a refrigerant outflow port of an evaporator to a refrigerant suction port of the ejector module. A pressure loss that occurs when a refrigerant flows in the suction pipe may be set to be lower than a pressure loss that occurs when the refrigerant flows in an outlet pipe.

In accordance with the present disclosure, it is possible to stabilize the temperature of intake air passing through the inlet of an intercooler using a water cooling unit and increase the cooling efficiency of the intercooler using an air cooling unit. A thermal management method and system in a vehicle include a chiller to cause heat transfer between a coolant loop that defines a path in which a coolant circulates and a refrigerant loop that defines a path in which a refrigerant circulates. The system includes an electronic expansion valve (EXV) in the refrigerant loop to control a flow of the refrigerant into a first part of the chiller, and a coolant pump in the coolant loop to control a flow of the coolant into a second part of the chiller. A controller controls the EXV and the coolant pump based on a target amount for the heat transfer.
