A refrigeration system for a vehicle includes a compressor in fluid communication with a condenser and an evaporator. The compressor includes a variable speed motor and employs capacity modulation using refrigerant injection. The condenser and the evaporator include variable speed fans. The refrigeration system includes a battery to supply power to the refrigeration system. The battery is charged by one or more sources of power including the vehicle. The refrigeration system includes a control module configured to monitor one or more characteristics of the battery and to control one or more operating parameters of one or more of the compressor, the condenser, and the evaporator based on the one or more characteristics of the battery.
POWER MANAGING METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSPORTATION REFRIGERATION UNIT
A power management method used for power distribution in a transportation refrigeration unit. The power management method includes calculating engine power according to engine operating parameters; calculating power generator real-time input power according to power generator excitation current; calculating available power based on the power generator real-time input power and the engine power; and managing power distributed to a compressor based on the available power. The present invention further relates to a power management system. The power management method and system have the advantages of simplicity, reliability, stable operation and the like, the power generator real-time input power can be calculated according to the power generator excitation current, thus more power can be provided to the compressor on the premise that the power supply to power generator loads is guaranteed, and the operating efficiency of the transportation refrigeration unit is improved.

During control of an air-conditioning for a vehicle, when a torque to the engine is outputted that satisfies a total value of drive torques of the vehicle and an air-conditioning compressor, a minimum discharge capacity is set when fuel to the engine is cut. An assessment is made as to whether or not the discharge capacity needs to be changed from the minimum discharge capacity in accordance with the state inside the cabin. The discharge capacity is changed from the minimum discharge capacity to an upper limit capacity that is allowed during normal operation upon accessing that the discharge capacity needs to be changed from the minimum discharge capacity. After a predetermined time elapses following the changing of the discharge capacity, the discharge capacity is changed from the upper limit capacity to a discharge capacity that corresponds to the state inside the cabin.

System and method for managing operational states of a variable displacement compressor based upon climate conditions
A system is disclosed. The system includes a climate condition determination module that is configured to determine a climate condition associated with a vehicle based upon an external air temperature or a dew point temperature. The system also includes a compressor operational state control module that is configured to control a plurality of operational states of a variable displacement compressor of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system within the vehicle. The compressor operational state control module is configured to cause the variable displacement compressor to selectively transition from a variable displacement operational state to a fixed displacement-like operational state when the climate condition exceeds a climate threshold to cause an evaporator of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to provide evaporator air having an air temperature corresponding to a target evaporator air temperature.

System and methods for extracting water from an electric air conditioning system for water injection
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a ratio of friction to regenerative brake effort and running an electric air conditioning compressor to collect condensed water for water injection into an engine. In one example, a method may include adjusting the air conditioning compressor load of the electric AC system and the ratio of friction to regenerative brake effort based on a water level in a water storage tank of the water injection system. Further, the method may include directing energy from regenerative braking to a battery and/or to the AC compressor in response to the battery state of charge.
