ARTICULATING HINGE SYSTEM FOR INDEPENDENTLY OPENING AUTOMOTIVE DOORS
20180119471 · 2018-05-03 ·

An automotive vehicle is provided having a body with an opening without a pillar. First and second doors cover the opening, and a translatable hinge, such as a gooseneck hinge, connects the first door to the vehicle. The hinge is adapted for moving the first door away from the second door, and then allowing the first door to pivot to an open position about a single pivot axis. A striker is adapted for allowing a latch for latching the first door to move along the striker in a latched condition during translation of the hinge, and may include an elongated, angled striker bar for permitting the first door to move both along and outboard of the vehicle body during the opening sequence.

CABLE DEPLOYABLE ACROSS VEHICLE DOOR OPENING

A vehicle includes a vehicle body including a front pillar and a rear pillar spaced along a vehicle-longitudinal axis. The front pillar and the rear pillar define a door opening therebetween. A first track is supported by the front pillar and a second track is supported by the rear pillar. A bar extends from the first track to the second track. The bar is moveable relative to the first track and the second track from a lowered position to a raised position. The bar extends across the door opening in the raised position. The vehicle includes a cable that includes a first end and a second end. The first end is fixed to the bar and moveable with the bar from the lowered position to the raised position. The second end is fixed to the vehicle body.

Vehicle side structure

An upper rail is located along an upper edge of a boarding opening. A center rail extends from a side edge of the boarding opening in a direction away from the boarding opening. A lower rail is located along a lower edge of a sliding door. An upper hinge that is guided by the upper rail and a center hinge that is guided by the center rail slide with the sliding door. A lower hinge that is guided by the lower rail is located at each of front and rear side edges of the boarding opening, and does not slide. A lower edge lock mechanism fixes the lower edge of the sliding door to a vehicle body side structure.

A door connection structure includes a door guide for guiding a door in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body, a door hinge arm mounted on the vehicle body, and including a hinge rotation shaft and a door rotation shaft, the door hinge arm rotating around the hinge rotation shaft when the door is sliding, a door hinge rotatably mounted around the door rotation shaft and connected to the door, a first catcher rotatably mounted on the door hinge arm and of which a center striker guide is formed thereto, and a center striker which is inserted into the center striker guide to rotate the first catcher and limits rotation of the first catcher when the door swings so that the door swings around the door rotation shaft.

SEALING STRUCTURE FOR DOOR OF AUTOMOBILE

A first molded part with a first concave-shaped part is provided on a front door, and a second molded part with a second concave-shaped part is provided on a rear door. The first and second molded parts make elastic contact with a main seal provided on an automobile body of a center pillarless automobile, to seal a gap between the doors. A rear surface of a first rear wall of the first concave-shaped part and a front surface of a second front wall of the second concave-shaped part of a sealing structure for a door of an automobile each have an upper part and an outer-cabin side part inclined toward a front part of the automobile body. The front surface makes elastic contact with the rear surface when the doors are in closed positions.

OPERATING MECHANISM FOR REAR HINGED FULLY SEALED INDEPENDENT SIDE OPERATING DOORS

A vehicle door includes a door panel slidably operable between a secured position within a door aperture and a staging position partially distal from the door aperture. A latch is engaged with a striker path during operation of the door panel between the secured and staging positions, and is selectively disengaged from the striker path to define open and closed positions of the door panel when the door panel is in the staging position.

A door hinge apparatus of a vehicle may include a slide unit including a slide body and a main slider where the slide body is provided on one side of a vehicle body corresponding to an end portion of a door in the vehicle and the main slider is movable in a width direction of the vehicle with respect to the slide body, and a door hinge bracket engaged with the end portion of the door and operably coupled to the main slider.

Multiplane object detection

Techniques for managing the doors of a vehicle are discussed herein. In some examples, a vehicle may have one or more doors configured to open and close. The doors may include one or more sensor devices located along the inside edges of the doors. The sensor devices may be configured to capture sensor data of a region between the doors. In some instances, the vehicle may have a door frame that may define a door aperture when the vehicle doors are in a non-closed state. The door frame may include one or more sensor devices located along an edge portion of the door frame. Such sensor devices may capture sensor data of the region within the door aperture. In such instances, a second plane (e.g., defined by the door frame) may be interior to a first plane (e.g., defined by the doors) relative to the vehicle.

AUTOMOTIVE DOOR AND WINDOW SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS

Disclosed embodiments may include a vehicle without a B-pillar that has barn doors and partially frameless windows. The barn doors may include a window seal system having a primary seal for creating a watertight barrier when the window is in a first closed position. Upon the vehicle exceeding a predetermined speed threshold, the vehicle may automatically raise the window from the first closed position to being in a second closed position in which a secondary seal secures the window to prevent buffeting of the window. Disclosed embodiments may further include a seal and door structure that provides a pair of seals (an inner seal and an outer seal) between the front and rear barn doors that provide a watertight barrier when the doors are closed together and that also allows for each of the front and rear doors to be independently opened and closed in a barn-door fashion.

Door hinge device of vehicle

A door hinge apparatus of a vehicle may include a rail plate provided on one side of a vehicle body corresponding to an end portion of a door of the vehicle and formed with a rail in a width direction of the vehicle, a hinge slide unit including a slide bracket provided on the rail and a door hinge bracket provided on the door where the slide bracket includes a guide slot formed in a diagonal direction of the slide bracket and the slide bracket and the door hinge bracket are pivotally coupled each other through a hinge shaft, and an actuator having a roller configured at a rod to roll along the guide slot so that the slide bracket moves along the rail.
