Folding/retractable pickup truck box cover
A retractable pickup truck box cover system includes a pivot joint with improved strength, durability, and manufacturability between panels of a panel assembly of the cover system. A sealing system between the panels and along ends of the panel assembly provides improved weather resistance to the cover system. A lateral support system provides resistance to binding loads when opening and closing the panel assembly. The lateral support system may also aid installation of the cover system. A ramp adjustment system allows fine tuning of the ramps that guide folding and unfolding of the panel assembly. An improved locking system and the pivot joints allow more compact storage of the panel assembly. The improved locking system includes lock rods that engage rails of the cover system. Connecting structures connect adjacent panel pairs when the cover system is deployed and do not connect the adjacent panels when the cover system is stowed. A seal of the sealing system includes angled and/or transvers ribs to support a bulb of the seal when pivotally scrubbing against the panels. The seal includes a plurality of interior portions that selectively compress and bulge between the panels. The seal includes a coating that may provide stiffness, wear resistance, hardness, and/or reduced friction. A clamping system allows installation of the cover system without drilling holes and includes built-in fixturing for locating clamps and thereby locating the cover system on the pickup truck box.
Truck bed safety device
The disclosed safety device helps prevents the dog from falling from, being thrown from, or jumping from the back of a pickup truck by securing them with a safely attached net to the truck racks. The net grids (openings) are sized to either allow or prevent the dog from getting just their heads through the net. The net is easily removable for tall cargo and it also allows you to carry cargo that normally needs to be secured to the truck bed itself or in a truck with a cap. The cargo can be such as; commercial and residential construction material, yard debris, and sporting goods.
Flexible substrate connectors
A connector for a flexible substrate includes a first connector piece including a first plurality of through holes, a second connector piece including a second plurality of through holes, the second connector piece disposable in opposition to the first connector piece to align the first plurality of through holes and the second plurality of through holes to define, via the first plurality of through holes and the second plurality of through holes, a grommet, a plurality of first fastener receivers and a plurality of second fastener receivers and a channel, defined at least in part by the first connector piece, extending across the first connector piece. The plurality of first fastener receivers are disposed on a first side of the channel and the plurality of second fastener receivers are disposed on a second side of the channel, the first side of the channel corresponds to a position at which a flexible substrate is disposable between the first connector piece and the second connector piece, and the second side of the channel corresponds to a position at which a flexible substrate is not disposed between the first connector piece and the second connector piece.
CLAMP ASSEMBLY FOR TONNEAU COVER
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a clamp assembly for attaching a tonneau cover to a vehicle. The clamp assembly can include a bow hanger comprising a main body extending between first and second ends and a protrusion extending away from the main body and along a portion of a length thereof. The clamp assembly can have a bow slide comprising a head configured to surround and move along the bow hanger. The clamp assembly can have a slot configured to receive the protrusion of the bow hanger, wherein engagement between the protrusion and the slot of the bow slide prevents the bow slide from rotating around the bow hanger. In some embodiments, the clamp assembly includes a handle coupled to the bow slide and a cam follower. The cam follower can engage rails of the handle which can be disposed either internally or externally of the handle.
Drive assembly for a cover system for open-topped containers
A drive assembly mounted on a pivot arm for a cover system having a cover supported on an axle for the cover to be wound and unwound, the drive assembly including a housing, a drive motor including a hypoid pinion gear in meshed engagement with a hypoid ring gear, a transfer gear engaged to the hypoid ring gear for rotation therewith, an output gear in meshed engagement with the transfer gear, and an output shaft engaged to the output gear for rotation therewith, the output shaft engaged to the axle to transmit rotation from the drive assembly to the axle. The hypoid ring gear, the transfer gear and the output gear are sized and arranged so that the output gear overlaps the hypoid ring gear, and so that the hypoid pinion gear and the output gear are on the same side of the hypoid ring gear and laterally overlap each other.
