ELECTRIFIED MILITARY VEHICLE

A military vehicle including an engine coupled to the chassis for providing mechanical power to the military vehicle, a motor/generator coupled to the engine, and an energy storage system including a battery electrically coupled to the motor/generator. The military vehicle is operable in a silent mobility mode with the engine inactive and the energy storage system providing power to the motor/generator to operate the military vehicle. The motor/generator and the battery are sized such that electrical power generation through engine drive of the motor/generator is greater than the power depletion through operation of the military vehicle in the silent mobility mode. The motor/generator can charge the energy storage system while the military vehicle is driving or stationary.

Method and control unit for carrying out an engine stop of an internal combustion engine

A control unit is provided for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine with a shaft, which can be coupled to an electric machine or decoupled from the electric machine. The control unit is designed to couple the electric machine to the internal combustion engine during an engine stop of the internal combustion engine. The control unit causes the electric machine to guide the shaft of the internal combustion engine. The control unit determines that a speed of the guided shaft is equal to or less than a speed threshold value and, in response thereto, decouples the electric machine from the internal combustion engine, such that the internal combustion engine stops without being guided by the electric machine.

A method for operating a power shiftable transmission of a motor vehicle, the transmission including a control unit, an input shaft, an output shaft, a gear set, and multiple shift elements, the method including transmitting, with the control unit, a request for a reduction of a drive torque acting on the input shaft for carrying out an upshift, and determining, with the control unit, whether the reduction is completely possible, partially possible, or impossible based on a signal. When the reduction is completely possible, the method includes controlling, with the control unit, a torque transmission rate of a shift element of the multiple shift elements to be engaged during the upshift according to a first way. When the reduction is partially possible or impossible, the method includes controlling, with the control unit, the torque transmission rate according to a second way, the second way differing from the first way.

Vehicle having motor and method of controlling the same to prevent collision thereof

A method of controlling an electrified vehicle to prevent a collision thereof includes: determining whether an accelerator pedal is erroneously operated in the situation in which an obstacle is detected to be present in a traveling path; and when it is determined that the accelerator pedal is erroneously operated, performing braking control such that at least one of hydraulic braking or regenerative braking is selectively performed in a plurality of braking sections determined based on a current vehicle speed and a distance to the obstacle.

Controller and control method for hybrid vehicle

A controller for a hybrid vehicle predicts whether necessary discharging electric power from a power storage device which is required to perform downshift in a transmission exceeds upper-limit discharging electric power of the power storage device when downshift in the transmission is performed in a hybrid vehicle travel mode and controls a compressor rotation speed such that a rate of increase of the compressor rotation speed of a supercharger at the time of performing downshift in the transmission increases as the upper-limit discharging electric power decreases when it is predicted that the necessary discharging electric power exceeds the upper-limit discharging electric power.

System and method for controlling driving of electronic 4-wheel drive hybrid vehicle

A system and method for controlling driving of an electronic 4-wheel drive hybrid vehicle appropriately executes torque distribution and compensation to front wheels and rear wheels in each gear position to satisfy driver's requested torque depending on selected driving mode of the electronic 4-wheel drive hybrid vehicle in which an engine and a front wheel motor are connected to the front wheels and a rear wheel motor is connected to the rear wheels, thereby being capable of increasing acceleration performance when a sports mode is selected as the driving mode and realizing acceleration linearity when a comfort mode is selected as the driving mode.

Methods and system for arbitrating fuel cut out for a hybrid vehicle

A method and system for operating a hybrid vehicle that includes an integrated starter/generator and a driveline disconnect clutch is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not to rotate an engine via an electric machine while propelling a vehicle via the electric machine according to vehicle efficiency.

When a vehicle is in a traveling state having a low necessity to quickly increase required traveling torque, high-rotational-speed engine starting unit that reduces an emission amount of particulate matter emitted during engine starting starts the engine. Since quick torque response is not required when the vehicle is in the traveling state having the low necessity to quickly increase the required traveling torque, the high-rotational-speed engine starting unit starts the engine, so that increase of the emission amount of particulate matter emitted during engine starting can be curbed.

Electrified military vehicle

A military vehicle includes a chassis, a front end accessory drive (FEAD), and circuitry. The chassis includes an engine and an integrated motor generator (IMG). The FEAD includes multiple accessories and an electric motor-generator. The circuitry is configured to operate the military vehicle according to different modes. The circuitry is configured to receive a user input indicating a selected mode of the modes, and operate the chassis and the FEAD of the military vehicle according to the selected mode. The modes include an engine mode and an electric mode. In the engine mode, the engine drives the FEAD and the tractive elements of the military vehicle through the IMG for transportation. In the electric mode, the engine is shut off to reduce a sound output of the military vehicle and the IMG drives the tractive elements of the military vehicle for transportation and the electric motor-generator drives the FEAD.

Control apparatus for vehicle

A vehicle control apparatus includes an overlapping-prediction determination portion configured to determine whether or not it is predicted that, during execution of a synchronous control for placing a clutch, which is provided between an engine and an electric motor, into an engaged state, a synchronization-completion time point of the clutch overlaps with an inertia phase period in process of a shift control of a transmission, and a torque limitation portion configured, when the overlapping-prediction determination portion determines that it is predicted that the synchronization-completion time point overlaps with the inertia phase period, to execute a torque limitation by which at least one of a torque capacity of the clutch and an output torque of the engine is made smaller than when the overlapping-prediction determination portion determines that it is not predicted that the synchronization-completion time point overlaps with the inertia phase period.
