Capless automotive fueling system with miss-fuel inhibitor

A fuel inlet assembly for an automotive vehicle having an elongated tubular and cylindrical housing open at each end and defining a port in between the ends of the housing. A flapper valve is associated with the fluid port and is movable between an open and a closed position. At least two latches are pivotally mounted to the housing adjacent the fluid port and movable between a latch position and a release position. The latches engage the flapper valve to prevent the flapper valve from moving to its open position. A flexible bump is attached to each latch so that the bump pivots with its associated latch and each bump protrudes radially inwardly from its associated latch. Each bump has a cam surface which, when engaged by a fuel nozzle, pivots the bump and its associated latch to the release position. However, the latch is collapsible in a radially outward direction towards its associated latch when that latch is in its release position thus enabling a fuel nozzle to pass past the collapsed bumps and engage the flapper valve. As such, only a fuel nozzle with a predetermined size range will engage the bumps and pivot the latches to an open position and also allow the fuel nozzle to pass the bumps and extend through the fluid port.

An oil filler port of the capless oil feeder includes: an oil filler port main body made of a resin, a breather tube portion made of the resin, and a flap valve. The oil filler port main body has a tubular shape and includes a nozzle insertion port for inserting an oil filler nozzle at one end and a fuel feed port for supplying fuel to a filler tube at the other end. The breather tube portion is formed integrally on an outer side of a peripheral surface of the oil filler port main body and connected to a breather tube. The flap valve is foamed to be insertable from the fuel feed port, and is disposed inside the oil filler port main body to close the nozzle insertion port and is opened by insertion of the oil filler nozzle.

A channel forming member is attached to a filler neck on a nozzle insertion side where a fueling nozzle is to be inserted. The channel forming member includes a barrier section that forms an insertion flow path section for the fueling nozzle in the fuel flow path on the nozzle insertion side, while forming an annular channel surrounding the insertion flow path section so as to separate the channel from the insertion flow path section. The channel forming member further includes the following provided to the barrier section: an atmosphere communication hole for making the channel communicate with the atmosphere; a flow path communication hole for making the channel communicate with an insertion end flow path section downstream from the insertion flow path section; and a valve mechanism that prevents passage of the atmosphere through the channel in a fueling period. This contributes to reduction in introduction of the atmosphere into the fuel flow path through the channel in a fueling period.

FUEL FILLER STRUCTURE OF FUEL SUPPLY PIPE

A fuel filler structure includes a cylindrical part having a fueling port and a connecting port; a first flap mechanism and a second flap mechanism that are disposed close to the fueling port and the connecting port of the cylindrical part, respectively, and when a nozzle is inserted through the fueling port, the respective flap mechanisms are pressed by the nozzle to open the fueling port and an opening on the connecting port side; a drain hole formed in the cylindrical part and allowing the inside of the cylindrical part to be communicated with the outside; and an opening and closing valve for opening and closing the drain hole. The opening and closing valve includes a valve mechanism that maintains a closed state of the drain hole through negative pressure suction by a volatile fuel suction mechanism attached to the nozzle.

An object is to provide a technique that suppresses deformation or the like of a spring provided to close a flap valve in an open-close device for fuel tank. The open-close device for fuel tank comprises a filler port-forming member that is configured to form a filler port of a fuel passage; an open-close member that is configured to open and close the filler port; and a double torsion spring that is configured to include a pressing portion arranged to press the open-close member in a valve closing direction and two coil portions connected with respective ends of the pressing portion and is supported by the filler port-forming member in a rotatable manner. The double torsion spring has a space defined by the two coil portions. The filler port-forming member is placed in the space and has a restricting element configured to restrict deformation of the double torsion spring.

Misfueling prevention device for vehicle

A misfuelling prevention device for preventing inappropriate fuel from being added to a vehicle utilizes a diameter difference between a gasoline gun and a diesel gun in order to prevent misfuelling. The misfuelling preventing device is constructed such that when the diesel gun having a relatively larger diameter is inserted, a locking button is not pressed while a flapper is opened, whereas when the gasoline gun having a relatively smaller diameter is inserted, the locking button is pressed while the flapper is not opened. As a result, misfuelling of the vehicle with inappropriate fuel is fundamentally prevented.

CAPLESS REFUELING MECHANISM
20180050586 · 2018-02-22 ·

A capless refueling mechanism attached to a vehicle fuel tank is disclosed. In one example, the capless refueling mechanism includes a guide plate, main opening, misfueling inhibitor mechanism with a first and second pendulum arm mounted within the main opening, and a sealing door pivotably coupled to the refueling mechanism. The first and second pendulum arm of the misfueling inhibitor may be adjusted to move from a first position to a second position, allowing a fuel nozzle sized to fit the main opening to open the sealing door and dispense fuel into the fuel tank.

Shut off valve

A refuelling coupling having a shut off valve for a refuelling system has an annular member equipped with a connector for a pressure refuelling nozzle. A main sleeve extends down from the annular member within the skirt. The sleeve has an annular valve seat and a circular cylindrical distal end section. The seat has a conical face facing obliquely inwards and downwards. Below the valve seat, a plurality of peripherally arranged openings are provided in the end section. An end cap is screwed on across the very end of the lower portion, closing it with ports in the end cap. It also has an inner sleeve extending back up centrally to the level of the valve seat. The end cap is open inwards of the inner sleeve.
