A display device includes: a display means that displays a virtual image of a picture by projecting display light representing the picture on a windshield; an identification means that identifies a target outside the vehicle; a control means that causes a first captured image, visually recognized as being superposed on at least a part of the target, to be displayed in the picture; and a vibration detection means that detects the amount of vibration of the vehicle. The control means, when the amount of vibration detected by the vibration detection means exceeds a threshold value, causes a second captured image to be displayed instead of the first captured image. The second captured image is an image of which a color shade difference between pixels configuring an image end and a region outside the image and adjacent to the image end is decreased compared with the first captured image.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

A driver assistance apparatus can include a display unit, a camera configured to capture an image of an interior of a vehicle, and a processor configured to sense a direction of at least one of a gaze and a gesture of a driver based on images provided from the camera, detect a region corresponding to the direction among a plurality of predetermined regions of the vehicle, and control the display unit to output information related to the detected region in response to an occurrence of an event related to the detected region among a plurality of predetermined events.

Method for improved depiction of at least one virtual element in a view-limited display device

The invention relates to a method for depicting a virtual element in a display area of at least one display apparatus of a vehicle. Virtual elements that lie outside of the display area of a display apparatus are perceptible by the driver with a certain estimation of distance, or respectively direction, in that a driver of the vehicle is signaled when the determined three-dimensional coordinates of the at least one virtual element lie outside of the display area of the display apparatus.

A computer performs processing including: generating an image to be presented to a driver in a preset coordinate system; identifying a display position at which the generated image is displayed in a field of vision of a driver, based on a viewpoint position of the driver; generating a driver viewpoint image obtained by converting the generated image to an image represented in a coordinate system defined with the viewpoint position as a reference; causing the driver viewpoint image to be displayed in such a manner that the driver viewpoint image overlaps a field of vision of the driver; detecting a line of sight of the driver; and when determining that a change amount of the detected line of sight exceeds a threshold value, suppressing change in a position at which the driver viewpoint image is displayed occurring in association with change in the viewpoint position.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE WARNINGS VIA AUGMENTED REALITY

Systems and methods for enhanced emergency vehicle warnings via Augmented Reality (AR) are provided. An example system may obtain a wireless communication signal indicating a position of an emergency vehicle, determine a field of view of an occupant of the vehicle associated with an AR viewer, and based upon a comparison of the position of the emergency vehicle and the field of view, present an alert via the AR viewer.

A display control device includes: a vehicle vibration information acquisition portion; a vehicle state determination portion; a bias error correction value acquisition portion acquiring, during a stopped period of the vehicle, a bias error correction value correcting a bias error; a bias error correction portion; a vehicle posture variation amount detection portion; and a display correction portion changing one of a position and a size of an image. The bias error correction portion performs one of: first correction processing which gradually changes a previous bias error correction value with passage of time, and shifts the previous bias error correction value to an updated bias error correction value through a period of the change; and second correction processing which does not shift the previous bias error correction value to the updated bias error correction value in the stopped period but performs the shifting operation in a traveling period.

IMAGE IRRADIATION DEVICE

A HUD includes an image generation unit and a controller. The image generation unit emits first light for generating a first virtual image object to be displayed at a position apart from a vehicle by a first distance, and second light for generating a second virtual image object to be displayed at a position apart from the vehicle by a second distance longer than the first distance. The controller controls the image generation unit. The controller causes information being displayed on at least one of the first virtual image object and the second virtual image object to be displayed on the other of the first virtual image object and the second virtual image object, based on information related to traveling of the vehicle and an instruction from an occupant of the vehicle.
