The present application relates to a child carrier, which includes a seat, an impact shield, an adjustment mechanism, and an operating member. A seating space for accommodating a child is enclosed between the impact shield and the seat. The adjustment mechanism is disposed on a side of the impact shield. The waist strap may preferably be detachable and adjustable. In some embodiments, the baby carrier system may be a multi-functional baby carrier system that includes a multi-functional baby carrier configured for use as a car seat insert, where the multi-functional baby carrier includes fastener slits that allow for a car seat harness to secure a baby when the fastener slits are unfastened.
