A vehicle passenger seat assembly includes a passenger seat and a rail system. The passenger seat includes a seat base and a seat back connected to the seat base. The passenger seat is movable between a seated condition for accommodating a seated passenger and non-seated condition where the passenger seat is tilted forward in a front-rear direction of the vehicle about a forward end portion of the seat base. The rail system is mounted to the seat base and configured to have mounted thereto a child car seat. The rail system is configured to move the child car seat along a lateral direction of the passenger seat between at least two seating locations defined by the passenger seat. The rail system is movable independent of the passenger seat to a forward tilted position to allow for movement of the passenger seat between the seated condition and the non-seated condition.

The seat shell is rotatable with respect to the base. The seat shell is selectively positionable between a plurality of orientations. The seat shell includes handles configured to independently unlock rotation of the seat shell with respect to the base. The lower portion of the seat shell includes an aperture configured to receive at least a portion of a projection of the base therethrough.

CHILD RESTRAINT WITH ROTATING SEAT

A convertible child restraint includes a lower base to contact a vehicle seat, a seat shell to support a child, and a mid base between the lower base and the seat shell to facilitate recline and rotational adjustment of the seat shell relative to the lower base. The child restraint may be used as a rear-facing car seat, a forward-facing car seat, and a belt positioning booster seat. For the rear-facing car seat configuration, a belt is installed along a rear-facing belt path that passes through the child restraint. The portion of the belt in the child restraint is accessed via a belt access panel when the seat shell is at a rear-facing position. Additionally, the child restraint includes a rotation lockout that allows the seat shell to be rotated from a rear-facing position to a side-facing position, but not a forward-facing position when using the rear-facing configuration.

Each of the hinge units releasably engages the primary portion of the pivot bracket and the pivot bracket when the chair bracket is in a home position to retain the child car seat in a seated position. The chair bracket is pivotable into a pivoted position on the pivot bracket when a respective one of the hinge units is actuated into an unlocking condition. In this way the hinge units facilitate the child car seat to be directed toward a door of a vehicle thereby facilitating a child to be positioned in the child car seat.

The rotary platform is pivotally connected with the bearing portion of the support base about a pivot axis. The child seat is connected with the rotary platform, wherein the child seat, the rotary platform and the bearing portion are movable in unison relative to the anchoring portion, and the child seat and the rotary platform are rotatable in unison as a seat unit relative to the support base between a plurality of positions including a forward facing position, a rearward facing position and a sideways facing position.

The system comprises a base configured to support a seat of the child car seat and a belt lock off mechanism. The belt lock off mechanism includes a first arm movable between (a) an unlocked position in which the first arm is not configured to tension the safety belt of the associated vehicle, and (b) a locked position in which the first arm is configured to tension the safety belt of the associated vehicle. A second arm of the belt lock off mechanism is configured to engage with and urge the first arm to move from the unlocked position to the locked position so as to tension the safety belt of the associated vehicle.
