A winch for securing a load to a vehicle a is disclosed. The winch includes a mounting bracket with opposed flanges. The winch further includes a drum extending along an axis between a first end and a second end. The drum is mounted relative to the opposed flanges so that the drum is rotatable about its axis. The winch includes a gear received on the drum and a worm configured to mesh with the gear so that a rotation of the worm causes a rotation of the gear. The winch further includes a clutch assembly between the drum and the gear. The clutch assembly is biasable between a first configuration in which the gear is fixed relative to the drum about the axis of the drum and a second configuration in which the gear is rotatable relative to the drum about the axis of the drum.

WINDER

Described is a tiedown winder. It has a base member having a magnetised region to allow the base member to be selectively secured one of a plurality of ferrous parts of a vehicle to become releaseable secured thereto. It also has an axle able, in a use position, to engage with said base member in a manner to allow rotation of the axle relative the base member and presenting a winding zone about which a tie down can be wound.

Safety tensioning device for automobiles

A safety tensioning device includes a base, a handle, a winding mechanism and a first bundling strap. The first bundling strap is disposed on the main rotating shaft and the winding mechanism. The winding mechanism includes a box, a coil spring component and a winding shaft passing through the box with two ends exposed out of the box. One end of the winding shaft is attached to the coil spring component, a centrifugal self-locking mechanism to stop the winding shaft winding when a rotation speed is too fast, is attached to another end of the winding shaft.

RETRACTOR WITH SPACE SAVING FEATURES
20230202379 · 2023-06-29 ·

A retractor may include various features that reduce the amount of space necessary to secure an object, for example, a wheelchair in a vehicle. In one embodiment, the webbing is designed to come off of the top of the retractor spool, which shifts the webbing take-off point from the spool rearward, as compared to prior art retractors. In another embodiment, the retractor is provided with a webbing guide that rotates around at least a portion of the circumference of the retractor spool. The rotatable guide also shifts the take-off point from the webbing guide rearward, as compared to prior art retractors. In yet another embodiment, the retractor is provided with both a rotatable webbing guide and webbing that comes off of the top of the spool.

Strap Winding Device
20230202378 · 2023-06-29 ·

A strap winding device for efficiently and easily winding up a strap such as a cargo strap after use. The strap winding device generally includes a main body which is adapted to rest upon a structure such as a trailer on a vehicle such as a truck. A mount may be connected to the main body, with the mount being removably inserted within an opening on the trailer, such as a trailer stake pocket. A winder is rotatably connected to the mount by a sleeve, with the winder being operable to rotate a reel onto which the strap may be wound. The reel includes a pair of prongs which are tapered towards each other to ease removal of the strap after winding.

STRAP SYSTEM FOR SECURING A PAYLOAD

The present invention discloses a strap system for securing a payload. The strap system includes a first fastener having a connecting crosspiece, a reversing crosspiece, and a hanger capable of attaching to the payload. The strap system also includes a strap attached to the connecting crosspiece of the first fastener and capable of passing around the reversing crosspiece and tightening the strap around the payload.

HIGH SPEED WINCH REWIND ADAPTER
20250230011 · 2025-07-17 ·

This disclosure describes a high speed winch rewind adapter for quickly rewinding a loading strap. In one implementation, the adapter includes a body having a volume sized to at least partially surround an annular end of the winch. The annular end is coupled with a ratchet mechanism of the winch and having at least one hole for receiving a winch bar. A drive connector is positioned both within the volume of the body and external to the volume of the body, the drive connector external to the volume of the body having an external profile to receive a torque, and the drive connector within the volume of the body insertable into the annular end of the winch for alignment to the axis of rotation. A coupling mechanism synchronizes the drive connector to the annular end such that both the drive connector and the annular end rotate simultaneously.

Mechanically actuated cargo restraint system

A mechanically actuated cargo restraint system for a vehicle includes a rotatable reel in a frame, first and second flexible tethers, and a mechanical device. The first flexible tether has a first end coupled to the rotatable reel and a second end capable of being coupled to a cargo item, the first flexible tether is windable around the rotatable reel. The mechanical device includes a pawl and cog that are movable with respect to each other, the pawl coupled to the rotatable reel for rotatable movement therewith. Movement of a cargo item attached to the first flexible tether that causes the first flexible tether to move in an unwinding direction on the rotatable reel causes movement of the pawl-containing member relative to the cog. Velocity in the unwinding direction such as that encountered during a crash or free-fall engages the pawl into the cog, thereby inhibiting movement of the first flexible tether in an unwinding direction on the rotatable reel.
