Internal safety systems for robotic vehicles

Systems, apparatus and methods implemented in algorithms, hardware, software, firmware, logic, or circuitry may be configured to process data and sensory input to determine whether an object external to an autonomous vehicle (e.g., another vehicle, a pedestrian, road debris, a bicyclist, etc.) may be a potential collision threat to the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle may be configured to implement interior active safety systems to protect passengers of the autonomous vehicle during a collision with an object or during evasive maneuvers by the autonomous vehicle, for example. The interior active safety systems may be configured to provide passengers with notice of an impending collision and/or emergency maneuvers by the vehicle by tensioning seat belts prior to executing an evasive maneuver and/or prior to a predicted point of collision.

VEHICLE DISTANCE WARNING AND SIGNALLING SYSTEM WITH DYNAMICALLY GENERATED TTC (DWSS-TTC)
20210221369 · 2021-07-22 ·

A system and a method are provided for calculating variable forward and backward unsafe distances between two tailgating vehicles for generating variable forward and backward staged Time-to-Collision pulses in real-time driving. The system also generates low-speed pulses and uses its speed sampling method for producing forward and backward distance reduction rate pulses.

The system uses the staged backward Time-to-Collision pulses and the backward distance reduction rate pulses for producing distance warning signals on the rear of its host vehicle. The system also uses its low-speed pulses for implementing a stoplight on the rear of vehicles regardless of vehicles' distance. The system provides the staged forward Time-to-Collision pulses and the forward distance reduction rate pulses for supporting Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system of its host vehicle with braking and steering initiation and intensity.

ACTIVE REAR COLLISION AVOIDANCE APPARATUS AND METHOD
20210237723 · 2021-08-05 ·

The present disclosure relates to an active rear collision avoidance apparatus and method. The apparatus includes a sensor for acquiring information by detecting at least one of a preceding vehicle, a vehicle at risk of collision or other vehicles; and a controller for determining a possibility of collision between the vehicle at risk of collision and the host vehicle, determining a direction of avoidance preferentially from where an avoidable area exists in response to the driving of the vehicle at risk of collision, if the possibility of collision is higher than or equal to a threshold point, controlling the host vehicle to drive to avoid in the determined direction of avoidance, and controlling the host vehicle to drive to avoid a possible collision in response to a response to the transmitted avoidance request signal from the preceding vehicle and/or the other vehicle.

Tailgating Detection and Notification Assembly
20210229692 · 2021-07-29 ·

A tailgating detection and notification assembly for reducing vehicle collisions includes a sensor and a notification module that are mountable to a vehicle. The sensor is proximity type and can detect entry of a following vehicle into a tailgating range. The notification module comprises a microprocessor and a display. The sensor and the notification module are mountable so that the sensor and the display are rear facing. The microprocessor is operationally coupled to the sensor and the display and thus is positioned to selectively actuate the display upon receipt of a signal from the sensor when the following vehicle enters the tailgating range. The display selectively presents a tailgating notification to a driver of the following vehicle.

Motor vehicle comprising a lighting module for generating a symbol

A motor vehicle includes a lighting module that generates a symbol on the ground in the surroundings of the motor vehicle, a surrounding sensor system that detects sensor information in a region in the surroundings of the motor vehicle, and a controller designed to control the lighting module depending on the sensor information such that the symbol is generated automatically by the lighting module in a ground region between the motor vehicle and another road user as soon as the distance between the motor vehicle and the other road user falls below a specified threshold according to the sensor information.

IRRADIATION APPARATUS AND IRRADIATION METHOD

When information regarding a situation inside and outside a vehicle is determined to match a display change condition, a control unit (32) changes a display mode of information displayed outside the vehicle by controlling a projector device (4a) or a body light device (4b).

DYNAMIC INTER-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION REGARDING RISK DETECTED BASED ON VEHICLE SENSOR MEASUREMENTS

Sensors coupled to a first vehicle are used to measure sensor measurements. Based on the sensor measurements, the first vehicle identifies a risk to the first vehicle and/or to a second vehicle near the first vehicle, for example based on a distance between the first and second vehicle being unsafely low. The first vehicle generates an alert based on the risk and outputs the alert toward the second vehicle, for example visually through a screen and/or audibly using speakers, to warn an operator of the second vehicle about the risk.

LIGHT OUTPUT APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE, LIGHT OUTPUT METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
20210146828 · 2021-05-20 · ·

A light output apparatus for vehicle according to an embodiment includes a transmission member disposed on an outer-surface side of a vehicle, the transmission member being adapted to let visible light pass therethrough, and to receive ultraviolet light and emit light by itself. The apparatus scans a visible light laser and an ultraviolet light laser, and projects the visible light laser and the ultraviolet light laser onto the transmission member. The apparatus performs control, based on vehicle information about the vehicle, to show first information by projecting the ultraviolet light laser onto the transmission member and thereby making the transmission member emit light, and to project the visible light laser onto the transmission member and thereby project second information onto a surface which the visible light laser reaches after passing through the transmission member.

SAFETY LIGHT
20210129932 · 2021-05-06 ·

The present invention provides various aspects of a novel safety light that can be attached to a bicyclist or an athlete so as to define a well lit, safe distance to avoid collision by a motorist. The present safety concerns would find advantage in an easy to attach safety light that is much larger, more conspicuous and one that provides greater lumens. It would be desirable for athletes and the sports industry if there was provided an improved safety light system to provide a significant warning to let motorists know the safe distance that any motorist and/or his vehicle needs to avoid so as not to hit the cyclist or athlete.
