A vehicle rearview mirror includes a substrate having a reflective surface and an actuation mechanism having a support unit coupled with the substrate. The actuation mechanism also has a mounting plate with a first end thereof rotatably coupled with the support unit. A toggle latch is rotatably coupled with mounting plate and alternately engages with the support unit in respective first and second positions. The second position corresponds with rotation of the support unit toward a second end of the mounting plate from the first position. The toggle latch is rotatable out of the first and second positions into a release position wherein the toggle latch is disengaged with the support unit. A toggle paddle is rotatably coupled with the mounting plate and is positioned adjacent the toggle latch to move the toggle latch into the release position by rotation of the of the toggle paddle.

Interior mirror for a motor vehicle

An interior minor for a motor vehicle, including a housing and a minor element held within it, can be tipped between a day position and a night position by means of at least one actuation element, where a direction of actuation of the at least one actuation element corresponds to a transverse direction of the interior minor in a central installation position.

VEHICLE INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY WITH ACTUATOR

An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a reflective element disposed at a housing. The housing and the reflective element are tandemly and pivotally adjustable about a mounting structure mounted at an interior portion of the vehicle to provide a desired rearward field of view to a driver of the vehicle. A user input is actuatable by the driver of the vehicle. A motorized actuator is operable responsive to actuation of the user input to tilt the reflective element and the housing in tandem about a horizontal axis. Responsive to actuation of the motorized actuator responsive to the user input, the motorized actuator tandemly tilts the reflective element and the housing about the horizontal axis to orientate an outermost front surface of the reflective element more towards the driver or more away from the driver.

REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY FOR VEHICLE

A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror reflective element having a glass substrate with a planar front surface and a circumferential edge along the periphery of the glass substrate. A mounting element is disposed at the rear of the mirror reflective element and includes a pivot element that is configured to pivotally mount the mirror reflective element at the vehicle. A plastic molding receives the mirror reflective element therein such that a portion of the plastic molding is circumferentially disposed about the circumferential edge of the glass substrate without overlapping onto the front surface of the glass substrate. The portion of the plastic molding provides a curved rounded transition from the front surface of the glass substrate to a side surface of the plastic molding. The plastic molding includes at least a portion of a mirror housing of the interior rearview mirror assembly.

Mirror assembly for a vehicle

A mirror assembly for a vehicle comprises a switchable reflective element that can change between a high reflection state and a low reflection state. The mirror assembly also includes a controller communicating with the switchable reflective element, the controller being able to change the switchable reflective element between a high reflection state and a low reflection state. The mirror assembly further includes a housing configured for attachment to the vehicle and housing at least the switchable reflective element.

INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY

An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror reflective element, a mirror support element having at least one attachment surface at which the mirror reflective element is adhesively attached, and a mounting assembly having a mirror mount and a mounting arm that is pivotally attached at the mirror support element. The mirror mount includes a plastic structure with a metallic clip attached thereat. The metallic clip is configured to slide onto a mirror mounting button adhesively attached at a vehicle windshield. The metallic clip includes a stop tab at one end to limit sliding movement of the metallic clip onto the mirror mounting button and anti-backout tabs at another end to limit movement of the metallic clip at the mirror mounting button in the opposite direction, so as to retain the metallic clip and the mirror mount at the mirror mounting button without use of a fastener.

PRISM TOGGLE SPRING

A rearview mirror for a vehicle includes an actuation mechanism coupled within a housing. The actuation mechanism includes a mounting plate rotatably coupled within the cavity of the housing at a first end thereof. A spring plate is coupled with the mounting plate and has a first resiliently deformable arm portion extending away from the mounting plate to define a first bend disposed on a first side of the spring plate and a second resiliently deformable arm portion extending away from the mounting plate to define a second bend disposed on a second side of the spring plate. The actuation mechanism further includes a toggle barrel rotatably coupled within the interior cavity of the housing. The first and second arm portions of the spring plate are operably coupled with the toggle barrel along a coupling axis.

Inside mirror assembly of vehicle

An inside mirror assembly of a vehicle, the assembly having an improved structure capable of implementing reflective surfaces of a day mode and a night mode according to light reflectivity. The mirror assembly has a simplified mechanism for operating a tilting reflective plate by adopting two pivot shafts to it. The tilting reflective plate is prevented from vibrating, and play is prevented using the tensile force of a spring.

Vehicle including mirror with image display apparatus

A vehicle includes: an image display mirror including a first polarizing plate, a half mirror, and an image display apparatus in the stated order from a viewer side; and a second polarizing plate, in which: the image display mirror is arranged so as to b viewable by a driver of the vehicle; the half mirror is configured to be oriented in different directions between when an image is displayed on the image display apparatus and when the image is not displayed thereon; the second polarizing plate is arranged so that light transmitted through the second polarizing plate reaches a first polarizing plate side of the image display mirror when the image is displayed on the image display apparatus; and the vehicle is configured so that the transmitted light of the second polarizing plate reaching the image display mirror is prevented from being transmitted through the first polarizing plate.

Method of making a mirror substrate for an interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle

A method of making a mirror substrate for a vehicular mirror assembly includes providing a glass substrate and fixturing the glass substrate at a fixture to support the glass substrate. A rotatable grinding wheel is presented to the front perimeter portion of the glass substrate and the front perimeter portion of the glass substrate is ground to establish a ground rounded surface about and around the periphery of the glass substrate. After grinding the front perimeter portion of the glass substrate to establish the ground rounded surface, a rotatable polishing wheel is presented to the ground rounded surface and the ground rounded surface is polished to establish a polished rounded surface about and around the periphery of the glass substrate. The polished rounded surface provides a smooth transition between the front surface of the glass substrate and a rear portion of the circumferential perimeter edge of the glass substrate.
