Monitoring device and vehicle having the same

A monitoring device and a vehicle having the same. The monitoring device includes a camera configured to obtain an image; a display configured to display the image; a tilting adjustor configured to adjust a tilting angle of the camera; and a controller configured to recognize a brightness of a first image displayed on the display and control the tilting adjustor to adjust the tilting angle of the camera in response to determining that the recognized brightness is greater than or equal to a reference value, and after adjusting the tilting angle of the camera, control the tilting adjustor to adjust the tilting angle of the camera to an initial tilting angle in response to determining that a brightness of a second image displayed the display is less than or equal to a release value.

Vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly with dual mode illumination module

A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a dual mode illumination module having a first light emitting diode (LED) operable to emit visible white light when electrically powered and a second LED operable to emit non-visible light when electrically powered. The first LED, when the vehicle is parked and the first LED is electrically powered, emits visible white light to provide visible ground illumination at a ground region at least partially along the side portion of the vehicle. Visible ground illumination by the vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly at the ground region is locked-out during movement of the vehicle. The second LED, when the second LED is electrically powered, emits non-visible light to provide non-visible illumination for a camera viewing exterior and at least sideward of the vehicle. Non-visible light emission by the second LED is not locked-out during movement of the vehicle.

A display device includes a light collector including a camera unit having a camera and a window unit having a window, an optical unit that controls a path of light received from the window unit, and a transparent display panel including at least one pixel area that displays an image based on an image captured by the camera unit and at least one transmissive area that displays an image received from the optical unit.

VEHICULAR VISION SYSTEM WITH MIRROR DISPLAY FOR VEHICLE AND TRAILER CAMERAS

A vehicular vision system includes an electronic control unit (ECU), a plurality of exterior viewing vehicle cameras that capture image data and provide captured image data to the ECU. When the vehicle is towing a trailer, a rearward-viewing trailer camera captures image data and provides captured image data to the ECU. A video mirror display screen is disposed at an interior rearview mirror assembly of the vehicle and is operable to display video images derived from video image data provided from the ECU. The mirror assembly is adjustable between a mirror mode and a display mode. The mirror assembly, when in the display mode, is operable by the driver of the vehicle to display at the video mirror display screen (i) a single image display of video images, (ii) a dual image display of video images or (iii) a three image display of video images.

A method for the automated activation of a vision support system of a vehicle, in particular of a motor vehicle, has improved automatic activation in particular with regard to the prevention of false-negative and false-positive activation. The method detects an activation gesture formed by a movement of the head and/or torso of a vehicle user, in particular of a driver; determines, using the detected activation gesture, a field of vision desired by the vehicle user; and activates the part of the vision support system which images the desired field of vision.

A blind spot warning method is disclosed for a tow vehicle. The method includes determining whether a trailer is connected to the tow vehicle. Based on the determination whether the trailer is connected to the tow vehicle, the determines whether a blind spot zone corresponds to the tow vehicle or to the tow vehicle and the trailer. At least one instruction is sent to a user interface of the tow vehicle for displaying an image for viewing by a driver of the tow vehicle. The displayed image indicates the determination whether the blind spot zone corresponds to the tow vehicle or to the tow vehicle and the trailer, and indicates a presence or absence of at least one other vehicle disposed in the blind spot zone.

A driving assist apparatus includes a photographing part mounted in side mirrors switchable between a first state where a driver can see a vehicle rear side and a second state where a protruding margin of the side mirrors in a width direction of the self-vehicle is small, and having different photographable areas between the first and second states. A control part performs a driving assist based on images photographed by the photographing part. The control part is configured to judge whether the side minors are in the first or second state based on the images, and to continue the driving assist when the side minors are judged to be in the first state and suspend the driving assist and notify to the driver that the driving assist is not carried out when the side minors are judged to be in the second state.
