11691580 · 2023-07-04 · ·

A metal shock absorption element having a first metal sheet and a second metal sheet. The first metal sheet is shaped in the form of a longitudinally open metal profile and has a substantially “C”-shaped cross-section. The second metal sheet is shaped in the form of a longitudinally open metal profile and has a substantially “C”-shaped cross section. The second metal sheet is inserted in a first longitudinal channel of the first metal sheet. The second metal sheet is made integral in one single piece with the first metal sheet in a collection of points to create a metal honeycomb structure having a closed cross-section and metal channels.

VEHICLE BEAM COMPONENT AND ASSEMBLY

A vehicle beam assembly includes a hollow tubular member configured to be formed with steel tube air forming. The tubular member includes a varied cross section along a length of the tubular member. For example, the hollow tubular member includes a center portion having a first cross-sectional shape, a pair of end portions that extend past corresponding crush cans in a direction away from the center portion, where the pair of end portions extend at an angle of 40-70 degrees, and at least one transition portion disposed between the center portion and one of the pair of end portions. A cross-sectional shape of the center portion, a cross sectional shape of one of the end portions, and a cross-sectional shape of the transition portion are all different cross-sectional shapes.

Vehicle

A vehicle may include a body including a rear surface defining an opening, a door configured to open and close the opening, and a rear bumper reinforcement fixed to a portion of the body located below the opening via a crash box. The body may include a lower back reinforcement extending in a vehicle widthwise direction along a lower edge of the opening and at least a part of the lower back reinforcement may be located directly above the rear bumper reinforcement in a vehicle height direction.

A vehicle body structure includes an extension to be held between a bumper beam extending in a vehicle width direction and a side frame extending in a vehicle front-rear direction. The extension includes: a fixing plate made of a plate member and fixed to a projecting end of the side frame so as to face in the vehicle front-rear direction; a crushing body arranged on the fixing plate; and a coupling strip made of a plate member, extending along the vehicle front-rear direction, and coupling an outer end in the vehicle width direction of the fixing plate with an outer end in the vehicle width direction of the bumper beam so as to integrally continue to the fixing plate and the bumper beam.

VEHICLE FRONT BODY STRUCTURE

A vehicle front body structure includes a duct member that surrounds a radiator on an inner side in a vehicle width direction of a right and left pair of crash cans. The duct member is a member that completely surrounds the radiator and includes side duct sections and an upper duct section. The side duct sections and the upper duct section are connected such that, when the duct member receives a specified load from a bumper member of a body during a frontal collision, the side duct sections and the upper duct section are disengaged from each other in the engagement sections.

A front side frame provided on each of right and left sides of the vehicle and extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction; and a bumper beam provided on a vehicle front side of each of the front side frames and having an inclined section in each end portion in a vehicle width direction, the bumper beam extending outward in the vehicle width direction and being inclined rearward in. A crash can is provided in a front end portion of each of the front side frames, extends forward, and is inclined outward in the vehicle width direction. A front end portion of each of the crash cans is coupled to the respective inclined section of the bumper beam. On an inner side in the vehicle width direction of each of the crash cans, a vulnerable portion is provided, and has low strength against a collision load input to the bumper beam.
