An airbag deployment alert system comprises an alert triggering system at least partially disposed in electrical communication with an airbag triggering system of the vehicle configured to broadcast an alert message concurrent to activation of said airbag triggering system. Upon sensing a collision, the accelerometer assembly of the airbag triggering system generates and electrical signal which is used to inflate the airbag. The same signal may also be utilized to activate the airbag deployment alert system and broadcast an alert message to other vehicles so equipped.
Systems and methods for detecting airbag deployment resulting from a vehicle crash
A method for detecting airbag deployment includes operating a plurality of sensors of the mobile device disposed in a vehicle during a drive to obtain a plurality of measurement signals, determining a change in at least one measurement signal of the plurality of measurement signals and that the change exceeds a first threshold. In response to determining that the change exceeds the first threshold, obtaining a pressure measurement signal from a pressure sensor of the plurality of sensors, determining a derivative of the pressure measurement signal, and determining that the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeds a second threshold. In response to determining that the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeds the second threshold, detecting a deployment of a vehicle airbag based on the change in the at least one measurement signal exceeding the first threshold and the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeding the second threshold.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING SEATBELT STATUS
Methods and apparatus for determining seatbelt status are disclosed. An example seatbelt system for a mass transit vehicle includes a first seatbelt of a first seat that includes a first buckle and a first magnetically-responsive switch to detect a first tongue when the first seatbelt is in a fastened position. The example apparatus includes a second seatbelt of a second seat that includes a second buckle and a second magnetically-responsive switch to detect a second tongue when the second seatbelt is in the fastened position. The example apparatus includes a remote monitoring unit to indicate, when the first seat is occupied, if the first seatbelt is in the fastened positioned or an unfastened position. The remote monitoring unit is to indicate, when the second seat is occupied, if the second seatbelt is in the fastened positioned or the unfastened position.
Multifunctional airbag triggering system
A multifunctional airbag triggering system embedded to any kind of vehicle and coupled to a communication network, comprising: a method of activating the inflation of vehicular airbags jointly with the broadcasting of a warning alert to all correspondent vehicles adhered to the system, whenever that precautionary measures to mitigate possible undesirable consequences arisen from a sudden vehicular accident of major severity are needed; electronic means for the instant broadcasting of a general alert announcing that an urgency is presently in force somewhere in the vicinity, allowing so that all incoming drivers should be ready to avert sequential collisions somewhere ahead with an affected vehicle much before it can be seen, giving so time enough to the oncoming drivers for a safe deceleration; a large, exclusive and dedicated broadcasting network instantly created between drivers and authorities through which a warning alert is sent simultaneously with the occurrence of a vehicular accident.
Vehicle-mounted emergency report device
A vehicle-mounted emergency report device having a function of transmitting an emergency report signal to a center device via a communication network when a vehicle has been determined to collide, includes a backup battery supplying an operating power when electric power supplied from a vehicle battery decreases, and a voltage detection unit detecting a voltage of the backup battery. Also, the vehicle-mounted emergency report device has a first determination unit determining whether the voltage detected is lower than a battery exhaustion warning threshold, a second determination unit determining whether a second order differential coefficient calculated by differentiating a battery voltage function twice by time is negative, and a warning unit refraining from warning when the voltage detected is lower than the threshold and the coefficient is not negative, and warning when the coefficient is negative. Thus, decrease of a discharge performance of the backup battery can be detected accurately.
Seat monitoring system and method for position determination
A seat monitoring system for monitoring a state of at least one seat arrangeable in a vehicle's interior and determining the position of the seat in the interior. The monitoring system has a control module, two sending modules signally connected to the control module, and at least one seat module associated with at least one seat and a receiving module. The two sending modules are spaced apart from one another and each have one antenna, the receiving module has two antennas. A first antenna of the receiving module is configured to receive a signal from a first sending module of the sending modules, and a second antenna of the receiving module is configured to receive a signal from a second sending module of the sending modules. The receiving module is configured to determine signal strengths of the signals received by the antennas of the receiving module for position determination.
