CURTAIN AIRBAG FOR VEHICLE
A curtain airbag for a vehicle may include: a main chamber installed between a headliner and a vehicle body and provided to be downwardly unfolded to the interior of the vehicle; a diffuser being provided at an inlet portion of the main chamber connected with an inflator, formed with a first outlet and a second outlet which receive and discharge gas from the inflator; and an additional chamber connected with the second outlet of the diffuser and communicated with the second outlet to receive gas from the diffuser and inflated between the headliner and the vehicle body to separate the headliner from the vehicle body. In particular, the diffuser includes a joined portion to close partially or fully the first outlet, and the diffuser increases the gas supply to the main chamber when the joined portion is opened by an internal pressure of the diffuser.

A vehicle seat assembly includes a seatback including a left lateral panel and a right lateral panel opposite the left lateral panel, a left airbag inflatable from the left lateral panel to an inflated position, a right airbag inflatable from the right lateral panel to an inflated position, and a tether extending from the left lateral panel to the right lateral panel. The tether is connected to the airbags.
AIR BAG DEVICE AND VEHICLE SEAT PROVIDED WITH AN AIR BAG DEVICE
An air bag device for a vehicle seat has a first air bag portion to be attached to at or close to a first lateral side of a backrest and a second air bag portion to be attached to a second lateral side of a backrest. The first air bag portion and second air bag portion are connected with each other by a third air bag portion designed to be located along a part of the upper portion of a backrest. The air bag device is designed to, when mounted to a vehicle seat, limit the lateral movement of the torso of an occupant and protect an occupant. The third portion will contribute with an increased stability of the air bag device when deployed. The air bag device may be adapted to protect the head of an occupant from injuries.
PROTECTION OF A VEHICLE OCCUPANT
The present disclosure relates to a method performed by an occupant protection system of a vehicle for supporting protection of a vehicle occupant in the event of an ongoing or imminent collision. The occupant protection system comprises an airbag panel arrangement arranged in connection with a dashboard of the vehicle, which airbag panel arrangement comprises an inflatable airbag adapted to upon deployment protect lower body parts of a vehicle occupant seated in a vehicle seat facing the dashboard. The occupant protection system determines a distance in a predeterminable direction between the airbag panel arrangement or the dashboard and the vehicle seat or an occupant seated in the vehicle seat; determines that the distance exceeds a predeterminable maximum threshold value; determines that one or more conditions for deployment of the airbag is fulfilled; and displaces the airbag panel arrangement outwardly from the dashboard by means of a panel displacing system.
DOUBLE AIRBAG SYSTEM FOR PROTECTING LARGER PASSENGER SPACES
The invention relates to an airbag system for a vehicle, including a first airbag and a second airbag situated largely above the first airbag in the intended main supporting direction. Both airbags may be triggered chronologically. In the airbag system both airbags may include a separate gas supply and may effectively interact to provide a larger airbag volume without substantial loss of time. When both airbags are activated, the second airbag deploys largely on the surface of the first airbag. Due to the separate gas supply, both airbags may be triggered simultaneously and independently of one another. It is also possible for only the second airbag to be triggered and for the first airbag to remain inactive. Thus, the airbag system covers a wider range of load conditions. The system helps by allowing the vehicle occupants more freedom in choosing their sitting positions.
Occupant protection system including inflators
An occupant protection system for a vehicle may include an expandable curtain and/or an expandable bladder configured to be expanded from a stowed state to a deployed state. The system may also include a transverse ceiling trim panel and one or more side ceiling trim panels configured to be coupled to a ceiling of the vehicle, with the transverse ceiling trim panel extending substantially transversely with respect to the one or more side ceiling trim panels. Portions of the ceiling trim panels may be configured to deflect and allow expansion of the expandable curtain and/or the expandable bladder to the deployed state. The system may also include a deployment controller and one or more inflators configured to cause deployment of the expandable curtain at a first time and deployment of the expandable bladder at a second time after the first time.
GAS BAG ARRANGEMENT FOR A VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A gas bag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle comprises an inflatable gas bag which includes at least one first inflatable chamber configured to protect the head of a vehicle occupant and at least one second inflatable chamber configured to protect a shoulder and/or thorax region of the vehicle occupant, wherein the gas bag is to be arranged in or on a side of a vehicle seat facing the vehicle interior space; and at least one connecting element connected to the gas bag for connecting the gas bag to the vehicle seat or to another component of the vehicle. The connecting element is connected to the gas bag such that a partial section of the connecting element extends on a side of the gas bag which in the folded and/or inflated condition of the gas bag faces away from a vehicle occupant.
Vehicle side airbag system, and methods of use and manufacture thereof
Some embodiments are directed to an airbag assembly for protecting a vehicle occupant having a torso and a pelvis disposed in a vehicle seat. The airbag assembly can include a first inflatable chamber disposed in the vehicle seat and configured to expand outward from the vehicle seat to indirectly support the torso of the occupant. The airbag assembly can also include a second inflatable chamber disposed in the vehicle seat below the first inflatable chamber and configured to expand outward from the vehicle seat below the first inflatable chamber. The airbag assembly can further include a sheet connecting the first inflatable chamber to the second inflatable chamber, the sheet being configured to engage the torso of the occupant when the occupant is disposed in the vehicle seat.
Vehicle occupant restraining system
A vehicle occupant restraining system includes plural occupant restraining devices that are disposed in a side support portion of a seat back of a vehicle seat and is configured to, when activated, restrain an occupant; and a control device that is configured to staggers the activation timings of the plural occupant restraining devices so that a load that acts on the occupant simultaneously from the plural occupant restraining devices is made to be equal to or less than a maximum value of a load that acts on the occupant individually from the plural occupant restraining devices.
VEHICLE INCLUDING INFLATABLE ASSEMBLY SUPPORTED BY SEAT
A vehicle seat assembly includes a seatback including a left lateral panel and a right lateral panel opposite the left lateral panel, a left airbag inflatable from the left lateral panel to an inflated position, a right airbag inflatable from the right lateral panel to an inflated position, and a tether extending from the left lateral panel to the right lateral panel. The tether is connected to the airbags.
