Enclosure pressurization device
A pressurization device for pressurizing an enclosure may include a container containing a pressurized fluid, a pin that is inserted into the container, an actuator, and a heating device operably coupled to the actuator. The actuator may initially hold the pin in a closed position and allow the pin to move to an open position, disengaging from the container when the actuator increases in temperature. The pressurized fluid may force the pin toward the open position to release the pressurized fluid from the container. The actuator may include a frangible hollow bulb configured to fracture at a pre-defined temperature. The pressurized fluid may be vented into the enclosure through at least one fluid passage in fluid communication between the enclosure and the container.

TUBULAR SEAT BELT SYSTEM HAVING AIR DELIVERY
A vehicle seat belt system is provided. The vehicle seat belt system includes a seat belt comprising a tubular seat belt webbing defining a passageway and a plurality of pressure control valves and a seat belt buckle for connecting to the seat belt. The seat belt buckle has an air delivery port for delivering air to the passenger, and an air delivery device supplies air to the seat belt, wherein the valves allow the supplied air to exit the seat belt at a first air pressure and block air from exiting at a second pressure.

Airbag
An airbag having a front side (10) and a rear side (20) connected thereto, which airbag is made of an airbag material, which encloses a volume that is filled with a deployment gas when a gas generator or a pressurized gas source is activated, and having at least one limiting strap (30), which is connected to the front side (10) at a first fastening point (31), and to the rear side (20) at a second fastening point (32. At least one of the fastening points (31, 32) has a fastening seam (51, 51, 52, 52) having mutually opposing sections for fastening the limiting strap (30) to the airbag material, and wherein at least one load relief slot (60) at the fastening point (31, 32) between the sections of the fastening seam (51, 51, 52, 52).

Steering column system for vehicle occupant safety
A steering column system of a vehicle includes: a rotatable, hollow steering shaft that has a proximal end attached to a steering wheel and is configured to transfer rotational input at the steering wheel to a steering rack of the vehicle; a stationary driver-side airbag (DAB) shaft that is surrounded by the steering shaft and extends along the steering shaft; and a DAB module that contains an airbag and is fixedly mounted to a proximal end of the DAB shaft within a region of the steering wheel. The airbag contained in the DAB module is formed to have a substantially circular center chamber and a pair of side extension chambers, one of the side extension chambers disposed on a right side of the center chamber, and the other of the side extension chambers disposed on a left side of the center chamber.
Tortuous path filter for airbag inflator
An airbag assembly may include an airbag and an inflator that provides inflation gas to inflate the airbag. A filter module may be positioned such that inflation gas exiting the inflator must first pass through the filter module. The filter module may be formed of a sheet of metal that is wrapped into a generally spiraling tubular shape. The filter module may have an inner layer, an intermediate layer, and an outer layer. The intermediate layer generally encircles the inner layer, and the outer layer generally encircles the inner layer and the intermediate layer in a spiraling fashion. The inner layer, the intermediate layer, and the outer layer each may have a pattern of holes and dimples that are separate from and/or displaced from each other. The dimples may protrude toward an adjacent layer to maintain spacing to enable relatively unrestricted gas flow from the holes of the inner layer through unaligned holes of the intermediate layer and the outer layer. The resulting tortuous gas flow path may help to slow, cool, and/or purify the gas before it exits the inflator.

SOLENOID VALVE FOR INFLATION SYSTEM
A method of operating an inflation system is provided. The method includes recognizing that the inflation system is activated or actuated by a user, supplying current to an electromagnet of a solenoid valve of the inflation system such that an armature-valve element of the solenoid valve is moved to an open position, wherein movement of the armature valve element to the open position actuates an actuator housing that in turn causes a normally-closed valve element of a valve housing of the inflation system to open, and ceasing current supply to the electromagnet once the actuator housing is actuated.
