Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for using neural networks to ensure the braking capabilities of articulated vehicles are adapted to prevent jackknifing. A system can receive operational parameters associated with both a vehicle and a trailer being towed by the vehicle. The system can also identify a current surface condition and predict, using a neural network, road conditions for a portion of the road which the vehicle is approaching. When distinctions between current and predicted, future conditions are defined, and the system can cause modification of the operational parameters of the vehicle and/or the trailer.

Method for controlling the wheel slip in a braking system with B-b-W technology of a vehicle and system thereof

A method for controlling wheel slip in a braking system of a vehicle includes receiving, by an input interface module of a slip control module, information representative of the vehicle and information representative of an estimate of the status of the vehicle, outputting, by the input interface module, input wheel slip control information, determining, by a parameter self-loading module, based on information representative of the vehicle and information representative of an estimate of the status of the vehicle, wheel slip control parameters, determining, by a plurality of wheel slip control enabling modules of the slip control module, a plurality of enabling signals of the wheel slip control, and determining, by each closed-loop wheel slip control module of a plurality of closed-loop wheel slip control modules of the slip control module a setpoint value of a control variable to be applied to a respective corner of the vehicle to minimize error between the defined slip setpoint and the estimated wheel slip value.

Method for controlling a vehicle brake system

A method for controlling a vehicle brake system of a heavy duty vehicle, the brake system comprising a service brake system and an electrical machine brake system. The method includes determining a total brake torque request for braking a wheel of the vehicle, obtaining a brake torque capability of the electrical machine, determining if the total brake torque request exceeds the brake torque capability of the electrical machine, and if the total brake torque request exceeds the brake torque capability of the electrical machine but is below a threshold level, applying a baseline brake torque by the service brake system, wherein the baseline brake torque is configured to compensate for a difference between total brake torque request and brake torque capability of the electrical machine, and controlling wheel slip by the electrical machine brake system.

Inverse tyre model for advanced vehicle motion management

A control unit (130, 140) for controlling a heavy duty vehicle (100), wherein the control unit is arranged to obtain input data indicative of a desired wheel force (Fx, Fy) to be generated by at least one wheel (210) of the vehicle (100), and to translate the input data into a respective equivalent wheel speed or wheel slip to be maintained by the wheel (210) to generate the desired wheel force (Fx, Fy) based on an inverse tyre model (f.sup.1) for the wheel (210), wherein the control unit (130, 140) is arranged to obtain the inverse tyre model in dependence of a current operating condition of the wheel (210), and wherein the control unit (130, 140) is arranged to control the heavy duty vehicle (100) based on the equivalent wheel speed or wheel slip.
