Controlling resource usage for vehicle (V2X) communications
A wireless terminal configured for use in a mobile vehicle comprises a transmitter (64), a receiver (66), and processor circuitry (42). The transmitter (64) is configured to transmit a series (50) of vehicle data messages (52) over a vehicle (V2X) communication radio interface (15). The receiver (66) is configured to receive a message (56) from a stationary infrastructure unit (36) over the vehicle (V2X) communication radio interface (15). The processor circuitry (42) is configured to: generate the vehicle data messages of the series (50); set a default transmission rate for transmission of at least some of the vehicle data messages of the series; make a determination regarding content of the message received from the stationary infrastructure unit (36); and thereafter in accordance with the determination, set a modified transmission rate for transmission of at least another vehicle data message of the series and thereby modify utilization of the vehicle (V2X) communication radio interface (15).
DIGITAL CONTEXT-AWARE DATA COLLECTION
Examples relate to digital context aware (DCA) data collection. In some examples, a DCA start location component is positioned at a first location along a travel route, and a DCA end location component is positioned at a second location along the travel route. In response to using a wireless interface to detect the DCA start location component, data collection of measurements by a sensor are initiated. In response to using the wireless interface to detect the DCA end location component, the data collection by the sensor is halted.
Communication system, data transmitting device, communication device, and communication method
The invention seeks to provide a communication system, a data transmitting device, a communication device, and a communication method capable of exchanging a sufficient capacity of data in a simple configuration without reducing the speed of a vehicle. The invention provides a communication system for transmitting data by a data transmitting device provided on a route of a moving body to the moving body having a plurality of vehicles in one formation; each of the plurality of vehicles being provided with a receiving unit that receives data transmitted from the data transmitting device; and the data transmitting device being configured to transmit mutually different data to the receiving units of the plurality of vehicles. The moving body may be a train such as the Shinkansen, or a transport vehicle such as a truck to which a plurality of cargo vehicles are connected.
Train control system
A train control system of the present invention capable of controlling a train in a plurality of drive modes by a single on-board device, includes an on-board device 4 mounted on a train 2 traveling on a predetermined track 1; a continuous ATP processing unit 11 and an intermittent ATP processing unit 10 that is provided in the on-board device 4 and simultaneously performs processes in a continuous ATP drive mode by a continuous ATP system and an intermittent ATP drive mode by an intermittent ATP system; and a drive mode determining unit 12 that selects either one of process results to be used in a travel control, of the continuous ATP processing unit 11 and the intermittent ATP processing unit 10.
Railroad Locomotive Control System Having Switch Position Indication And Method Of Use
A locomotive control system and method of use operable to provide operational control of a locomotive ensuing the detection that the locomotive will enter a railroad switch having the point blades incorrectly positioned. The locomotive control system further includes a point alignment detection sensor being operably coupled to a railroad switch and the point blades thereof. A plurality of track transceivers are mounted adjacent to the railroad switch and extend outward from the railroad switch along the railroad track. At least one engine transceiver is provided and is operably coupled to a locomotive. A controller is included and functions to provide logic and control of the locomotive control system. The method provides monitoring of the point blades of a railroad switch and detection of the movement of an approaching locomotive having entered the detection zone and is operable to prevent movement through the railroad switch if damage will occur thereto.
Methods and systems for signal fingerprinting
Systems and methods for modulating a telepowering signal in a downlink communication. Embodiments of the present invention provide a fingerprint module to generate a fingerprint signal that can be modulated with a telepowering signal for communication by a transmission module in a downlink communication. The fingerprint signal is reflected by a wayside equipment module and received by the transmission module to enable an additional communication other than the downlink communication and an uplink communication.

Rail vehicle signal enforcement and separation control
Systems and methods are provided for train operation control and enforcement. A train control system for controlling operations of a train may include a train-mounted control unit deployed in the train, and a plurality of fixed control nodes deployed on or in close proximity to a track traversed by the train. Each of the train-mounted control unit and fixed control nodes includes a corresponding communication subsystem that includes transponders and communication circuits, configured for communicating signals. The train-mounted control unit is configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from the plurality of fixed control nodes, with the signals including ultra-wideband (UWB) signals and with at least some of the signals carrying data pertinent to controlling operations of the train; and to determine control information relating to controlling operations of the train based on received UWB signals originating from one or more fixed control nodes.
