AXIALLY ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
A steering column assembly includes a steering column extending along a longitudinal axis between a first end and a second end. The steering column includes an outer jacket located at the first end, a middle jacket telescopically connected to the outer jacket and extending towards the second end, and an inner jacket telescopically connected to the middle jacket and extending further towards the second end. The steering column assembly also includes at least one axial adjustment actuator that telescopically moves the middle jacket with respect to the outer jacket. The at least one axial adjustment actuator includes a first gear rack fixed to the outer jacket and a second gear rack fixed to the inner jacket, at least one gear located between, and in tooth meshed engagement with, the first gear rack and the second gear rack and driven to translate the inner jacket relative to the outer jacket.
Body mounted sliding steering column with offset feedback actuator
A steering apparatus for a vehicle that utilizes steer-by-wire controls and may selectively be operated in an autonomous mode comprises a body mounted sliding steering column. The body mounted sliding steering column includes an arm that slides between a stowed position and a use position on at least one rail attached to a frame of the vehicle. The arm supports a steering column that may also be adjustable between a retracted position and an extended position. The arm also houses a force feedback motor in force-transmitting communication with the steering column.

Adjusting drive for a steering column and steering column for a motor vehicle
An adjusting drive for a steering column for a motor vehicle may include a threaded spindle that by way of an external thread engages in a spindle nut. The adjusting drive may also include a drive motor that is coupled to the threaded spindle or the spindle nut such that driving at least one of the threaded spindle or the spindle nut with the drive motor causes the threaded spindle and the spindle nut to rotate relative to one another. To reduce production complexity and improve functionality, the threaded spindle may have a core element that at least in portions is coaxially surrounded in a fixed manner by a threaded element that is configured from plastic and comprises the external thread.

Steering device
A steering device for steering a vehicle includes a movable member, a holding member, an impact absorbing member, a movement driving unit, and a controller. The controller is configured to perform first control and second control by which the movement driving unit is controlled. The first control is a control for moving the movable member along an axial direction of a shaft member within such a range that a front end of at least one of the shaft member and the movable member is located rearward of a space for movement in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. The second control is a control for moving the movable member along the axial direction within such a range that the front end portion is located inside the space for movement.
STEERING COLUMN FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
A steering column for a motor vehicle may include an actuating unit in which a steering spindle is rotatably mounted and which is held in an adjustable manner by a supporting unit, an adjustment device for adjusting the actuating unit with respect to the supporting unit, and a position-sensing device that includes a first sensor unit for sensing the position of the actuating unit with respect to the supporting unit. The position-sensing device may also include a second sensor unit for sensing a state when the actuating unit is in a predetermined position relative to the supporting unit. One or both of the sensor units may be configured to operate in a contactless manner.
