Steering column assembly
A method for optimising an energy-absorbing strap includes the steps of: (1) producing a single metal sheet, including a first connecting portion, for connecting to one of a support bracket and a fixed part of a vehicle, and a second connecting portion, for connecting to the other of the support bracket and the fixed part of the vehicle; and (2) producing a weakening in the single metal sheet to separate the first connecting portion from a tearable portion; bending a portion of the single metal sheet to produce a bent portion that interconnects the second connecting portion and the tearable portion, the second portion being bent back around in relation to the tearable portion; wherein the steps are selected to produce a desired energy-absorbance profile.
STEERING DEVICE
A steering device includes a pipe, a housing, a telescopic mechanism, and a load absorbing mechanism. The load absorbing mechanism includes an extending portion coupled to the telescopic mechanism and extending in a front-rear direction, a first sliding portion provided on a first side in a left-right direction with respect to the extending portion, and a second sliding portion provided on a second side in the left-right direction with respect to the extending portion.
ADAS WHEEL LOCKING DEVICE
A steering column assembly includes a first shaft assembly, a second shaft assembly, and a locking assembly. The first shaft assembly has a first shaft. The second shaft assembly has a second shaft that is at least partially received within the first shaft. The locking assembly is disposed about at least one of the first shaft and the second shaft and is arranged to inhibit rotation of at least one of the first shaft and the second shaft.
Steering column device
A steering column device includes a coupling mechanism that couples an auxiliary restricting member with an inner column when a lock mechanism is in a locked position. In operation, when a load exceeding a set value is applied to the inner column in its cylinder-axis direction, the auxiliary restricting member moves together with the inner column and leaves its engagement with a restricting member, so that the restricting member departs from a restricting position where it can be engaged with the inner column.
Depth-Adjustable Steering Column Mechanism with a Retractable Stop
A steering column mechanism (10) comprises a lower body (14), an upper tube (16) that is movable depthwise relative to the lower body (14) along an extension and retraction path, in a direction of retraction and in a direction of extension opposite the direction of retraction, and a locking mechanism (34) for locking the upper tube (16) relative to the lower body (14), movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A retractable stop (58) is movable relative to the lower body (14) and relative to the locking mechanism (34) between an active position and a retracted position. In the active position, the retractable stop (58) limits the travel of the upper tube (16) in the direction of retraction to an adjustment stop position, whereas in the retracted position, it does not interfere with the upper tube (16). The retractable stop (58) is linked to the locking mechanism via an interlock (65) in such a way as to be in the active position when the locking mechanism (34) is in the unlocked position. The lower body (14) comprises one or more supports (76, 78, 96) for at least partially taking up forces generated by the upper tube (16) on the retractable stop (58) when the locking mechanism (34) is in the unlocked position and the upper tube (16) is in the adjustment stop position in abutment against the retractable stop (58). Preferably, the lower body is provided with guide means (74, 76, 78, 90) for guiding the retractable stop between the retracted position and the active position.
STEERING DEVICE
A steering device according to the present invention has: a column pipe; a hanger bracket; an outer column that covers the column pipe in such a manner that the column pipe can move in a front-back direction; a fixed bracket that sandwiches the outer column; a fastening tool that has a bolt shaft and an operation lever portion, is inserted into a long hole of the hanger bracket, and locks and unlocks the outer column and the fixed bracket; a stopper member that is provided in the bolt shaft and swings as the bolt shaft rotates; and a telescopic regulating member that moves in the front-back direction together with the column pipe. The stopper member is capable of coming into abutment with the telescopic regulating member in an unlocked state but is not capable of coming into abutment with the telescopic regulating member in a locked state.
STEERING DEVICE
Construction is achieved of a steering device that is capable of preventing impact going forward from being applied to a support bracket even when a steering wheel is vigorously displaced to a front-end position when adjusting the forward-backward position of the steering wheel. Part of the stopper member 28 is supported by a fastening member such as a housing 10a. When an outer column 22a is displaced forward in a state in which the forward-backward position of the steering wheel can be adjusted, a portion that displaces forward together with the outer column 22a hits a pair of stopper surfaces 41 of the stopper member 28 before an adjustment rod hits a pair of long telescopic-adjustment holes.
ENERGY ABSORBING APPARATUS
A steering column comprising a first jacket and a second jacket that is axially movable with respect to the first jacket. The first jacket includes an aperture. An energy absorbing apparatus includes a strap body extending between a first end and a second end and a curved portion located between the first end and the second end. The first end includes a first connector and the second end includes a second connector selectively connected to the first connector through the aperture in the first jacket.
SPRING BUMPER ASSEMBLY FOR AN ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN
