Nylon resin driven pulley
A method of fabricating a ball nut assembly is provided. The method includes providing a ball nut having a keyway slot. The method also includes forming a polymer pulley having an inner surface defining a bore, a cut-out formed in the inner surface, and a torque member extending radially inward from the inner surface, wherein the keyway slot is configured to receive the torque member therein.
Steering system rack with stepped portion
A rack bar blank for a steering system includes a first region having a first diameter. The rack bar blank also includes a second region having a second diameter that is greater than the first diameter prior to formation of teeth on the second region and a ball screw thread on the first region.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM
An electric power steering system includes a housing, a ball screw, a motor, an angular position sensor and a computing unit. The ball screw includes a nut and a threaded shaft. The motor is disposed in the housing and connected to the nut and includes a bushing and a metal component. The metal component is fixed on the bushing and includes a central portion, a first wing portion and a second wing portion. The first wing portion and the second wing portion are disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the central portion. The angular position sensor is disposed in the housing and fixed relative to the housing. The angular position sensor includes a first sensing unit and a second sensing unit. The computing unit is electrically connected to the first sensing unit and the second sensing unit.
External damping of power steering for a vehicle
A steering member has a rack portion and a screw portion. The steering member is in a steering housing and operatively connected to a tie rod. A pinion is operatively connected between the rack portion and a steering wheel. A ball nut is operatively connected to the screw portion. A power source is operatively connected to the ball nut. The power source drives the ball nut to effect linear movement of the steering member upon rotation of the steering wheel. A damper has a first connection to the tie rod and a second connection to a ground surface. The ground surface is fixed relative to the steering member. The damper is external to the ball nut.
BALL SCREW NUT, TURNING UNIT, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BALL SCREW NUT
A ball screw nut includes a nut part and a pulley part integrally molded with the nut part on the outer peripheral side of the nut part and having external teeth. The pulley part has a cylindrical portion extending in an axial direction and facing the nut part in a radial direction, and an extended portion extending radially inward from the cylindrical portion and facing the nut part in the axial direction. A restriction part for restricting relative rotation of the nut part and the pulley part is provided between a facing surface of the extended portion facing the nut part and a facing surface of the nut part facing the extended portion.
Steering system
A steering system steers wheels of a vehicle through a shift of a steering shaft. The steering system includes: an electric motor; transmission device that transmits an output of the electric motor to the steering shaft; and a malfunction detector that detects a malfunction of the transmission device based on a rotational angle of the electric motor and a shift distance of the steering shaft.
Ball nut assembly for a power steering assembly of a vehicle
A power steering assembly has a housing and a ball nut assembly supported on the housing. The ball nut assembly has a ball nut axis. The housing has a first surface between the housing and the ball nut assembly. The ball nut assembly also has a second surface. The second surface rotates on the first surface such that the ball nut assembly rotates relative to the housing on a rotation axis that is transverse to the ball nut axis.
Steering system having an adjustment assembly
A steering assembly includes a rack and an adjustment assembly. The rack has a first side surface, a second side surface disposed opposite the first side surface, a first surface extending between the first side surface and the second side surface, and a second surface disposed opposite the first surface. The adjustment assembly is arranged to apply orthogonal biasing forces to a pair of orthogonal surfaces of the non-cylindrical steering rack.
Self-retaining pulley for steering assembly
A steering system is provided. The steering system may include a drive pulley and a ball nut assembly. The drive pulley may be operatively connected to a drive shaft. The ball nut assembly may be driven by the drive pulley via a belt disposed about the drive pulley and the ball nut assembly. The ball nut assembly may include a ball nut and a driven pulley. The ball nut may have an inner surface disposed about a ball screw that defines and extends along a first axis and an outer surface disposed opposite the inner surface. The ball nut may define a first groove that extends from the outer surface towards the inner surface. The driven pulley may be disposed about the ball nut and have a retaining member that includes a finger for extending into the first groove to engage the ball nut and driven pulley without separate fasteners.
Ball screw drive of an electromechanical power steering device with deflecting bodies for a ball return
An electromechanical power steering device may include a servomotor that drives an axially movable component via a ball nut mounted in a bearing such that the ball nut can be rotated about a longitudinal axis in a housing. The ball nut may be engaged with a threaded spindle configured on the axially movable component. The ball nut may include a ball screw on its inner side for balls to roll on, and an external ball return means that connects a start of the ball screw to an end of the ball screw to make endless circulation of the balls possible. A return channel of the ball return means may be formed by way of a deflecting body and a pulley wheel.
