A current sensor state determination device determines that an abnormality is caused in a current sensor when a sum of phase currents based on current detection values from each of the current sensors in three phases is greater than a first determination value, and determines that no abnormality is caused in the current sensor when the sum of phase currents is equal to or less than the first determination value. The state determination device determines that the current sensor is normal when it is determined that (i) no abnormality is caused in a preset electric angle range equal to or less than one electric-angle cycle of the rotating electric machine and (ii) a value of an electric current flowing in the rotating electric machine in a rotating coordinates system calculated based on the current detection value is equal to or greater than a second determination value.

This configuration makes it possible to improve robustness against failure of sensor elements and power supply circuits.

In one aspect, a magnetic field turn sensor system includes a magnetic field angle sensor having a sine bridge and a cosine bridge and first to third comparators configured to compare the outputs from the sine and cosine bridges. The system further includes a processor configured to receive outputs from each of the first to third comparators, determine that a combination of the outputs from the first to third comparators corresponds to an invalid state, and indicate a fault in response to determining that the combination of the outputs from the first to third comparators corresponds to the invalid state.

An automatic steering system comprises a controller. The controller executes target steering angle calculation processing. The controller further calculates a learning value of lateral acceleration. The learning value is calculated based on an error of a detected value of the lateral acceleration by an acceleration sensor and an estimation value of the lateral acceleration calculated using driving speed and yaw rate. In the target steering angle calculation processing, it is judged whether the acceleration sensor is normal. If it is judged that the acceleration sensor is normal, a target steering angle is calculated by using the detected value. Otherwise, the lateral acceleration used to calculate the target steering angle is switched from the detected value to a backup value of the lateral acceleration. The backup value is calculated using the estimation value and the learning value calculated before a timing at which the acceleration sensor is judged to be abnormal.

The disclosure can simultaneously obtain all dip angles of intersecting events and a true three-dimensional feature enable the present disclosure to obtain a better filtering effect.

The steering mechanism sensors may include a steering column torque sensor and an RPS sensor for sensing a rotor angle of the electric assist motor. Each of the at least two channels may include processors that have different software to protect against systematic faults.
