A system and method for passively and actively monitoring and determining the location of at least one mechanical anomaly for a power steering system of a vehicle is disclosed. The system includes one or more processors and a memory coupled to the processors. The memory stores a baseline waveform and data comprising program code that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the system to receive at least one excitation signal and at least one response signal. The power steering system creates the response signal in response to receiving the excitation signal. In response to receiving the excitation signal and the response signal, the system is caused to estimate the frequency response between the excitation signal and the response signal based on a fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. The frequency response is represented by an estimated waveform.

STEERING COLUMN FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

The present disclosure relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle, comprising a steering shaft which is mounted so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis (L) relative to a carrying unit, a rotation limiter having an end stop for limiting the rotation of the steering shaft, and a rotary sensor coupled to the steering shaft by means of a torque-locked connection. In order to permit a greater operational reliability, the invention proposes that the rotation limiter has a threshold torque and, if said threshold torque is exceeded, the rotation of the steering shaft beyond the end stop is permitted, wherein the threshold torque is less than a maximum transmission torque of the connection between the steering shaft and rotary sensor.

FOUR-WHEEL STEERING SYSTEM

The four-wheel steering system includes a rear-wheel steering system that steers rear wheels of the vehicle in accordance with a steering angle of a steering wheel. When the vehicle speed is lower than a vehicle speed threshold, the rear-wheel steering system steers the rear wheels in an opposite direction to that in which the front wheels are steered. When the vehicle speed is lower than the vehicle speed threshold, the rear-wheel steering system sharply increases the rate of increase in target steered angle of the rear wheels with respect to an increase in steering angle when an absolute value of the steering angle is equal to or larger than an absolute value of an angle threshold. The front-wheel steering system has a motor that is a source of a steering assist force and a first ECU that controls the motor in accordance with the steering state.
