This invention is a retractable cargo wall for flatbed trucks and trailers that lowers into an enclosure that may be rollup canister or tray. Once the cargo walls are lowered, the posts supporting the walls may collapse into the bed, thereby transforming a bed with cargo walls into a flatbed. It is also anticipate that a truck or trailer bed with posts can be transformed into a flatbed truck or trailer.

An off-road vehicle includes a frame assembly, a powertrain, a plurality of wheels and a seat assembly. A cargo box is coupled to the frame assembly aft of the seat assembly. The cargo box includes a floor and a plurality of side walls. A cargo bed is pivotally coupled relative to the cargo box about a forward hinge. The cargo bed includes a floor and a plurality of side walls forming an upper storage space. The cargo bed is tiltable between a closed position, in which the cargo bed is a cover for the cargo box forming a lower storage space within the cargo box below the cargo bed, and an open position, in which the cargo bed provides access to the lower storage space. An apparatus for partially covering an end of a vehicle bed includes a tailgate comprising a frame adapted for moving between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the vehicle bed. The frame supports at least one member adapted for moving along the frame to at least partially expose the end of the vehicle bed without moving the frame to the lowered position. A plurality of movable members in the form of panels may be provided, along with actuators for rotating and/or moving one or more of the panels between the raised and collapsed configuration. A tailgate subassembly alignment method includes positioning at least one panel support bracket of a frame subassembly relative to a connection member of the frame subassembly, and securing the at least one panel support bracket to the connection member when the at least one panel support bracket is in a preset position. The rear gate includes a pair of first and second opening/closing switching units configured to switch an opened/closed state of the rear gate. Operation levers of the first and second opening/closing switching units are operated to switch among a vertical opening state, a horizontal opening state, and a locked state restricting from the vertical opening and the horizontal opening.

A cargo box has a cargo box body and a tailgate. The cargo box body has two walls, a floor, an opened side, at least one slot defined in the floor, and at least one tab extending from at least one of the walls. The tailgate is selectively pivotally connected to the cargo box body and has at least one tailgate tab extending from a bottom thereof and being received in the at least one slot and at least one recess defined in a side thereof. The at least one tab overlaps a portion of the tailgate when the tailgate is closed thereby preventing opening of the tailgate. The tailgate is generally vertically slidable to align the at least one recess with the at least one tab thereby permitting opening of the tailgate. A vehicle having the tailgate and methods of opening and removing a tailgate are also described.
