Method for manufacturing medicated chewing gum without cooling
An improved method for manufacture of chewing gums containing active ingredient(s) that preserves the efficacy of the active ingredient(s) by avoiding exposure to high heat and extreme cold during milling that can otherwise degrade the active's efficacy. A chewing gum base is used, along with one or more therapeutically-active ingredients, one or more sweeteners (alcohol-based and/or natural), and one or more flavorings and optional flavor modifiers. The method generally comprises heating the gum base in ovens to melt the gum base. Separately, the active ingredient(s), sweeteners and flavorings are combined in a mixer. The melted gum base is added to the mixer and cools to produce a particulate mixture. As mixing continues the mass cools to room temperature and forms granular pieces. The granular pieces are ground into a powder at room temperature, mixed at room temperature with tableting excipients, and tableted. Several variations on the foregoing are also described.
GUM BASES CONTAINING NON-UNIFORM CROSSLINKED POLYMER MICROPARTICLES
A gum base comprises nanoparticles and/or non-uniform microparticles containing at least one crosslinked polymer. Non-uniform microparticles may be in the form of polymer composite microparticles, hollow shell microparticles and/or core-shell microparticles. It has been found that such gum bases exhibit desirable chewing properties similar to conventional gum bases. Cuds formed by chewing gum bases containing crosslinked polymer microparticles are easily removable from environmental surfaces such as concrete, fabrics and flooring materials.
Composition comprising chewing gum, method for producing the same and use thereof
A composition comprising used chewing gum and a filler is provided, together with a method of preparing the same. In a preferred method, the chewing gum is subjected to a pre-treatment with an oil or water before being combined with the filler. In an alternative method, the chewing gum is used alone with the filler. A composition comprising used chewing gum, a filler and a polymer is also provided, together with a method of its preparation, in which a pre-mixture of the gum and filler is first prepared, before being combined with the polymer, preferably in a molding process. Articles prepared from a composition of used chewing gum, a filler and a polymer are also disclosed.

Amphiphilic copolymeric material
An amphiphilic polymeric material which has a straight or branched chain polymer backbone and a multiplicity of side chains attached to the backbone, wherein the backbone is a copolymer of at least one ethylenically-unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon monomer and maleic anhydride, or is a terpolymer of maleic anhydride, ethylene, and a further ethylenically unsaturated monomer. A method of synthesizing said polymeric material is also provided, together with chewing gum bases, compositions and emulsions comprising amphiphilic polymeric materials.

METHOD FOR RELIEVING NICOTINE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS
A method of releasing nicotine from a compressed chewing gum tablet, wherein the chewing gum tablet includes two modules; a first module including nicotine and tablet material, and a second module including gum base and nicotine.
