An in-line planer board assembly incorporates hydrofoil designs at various key locations in order to maximize fluid movement efficiencies. Optionally, the planer board assembly further includes a spring-loaded fishing line release, also exemplified in a universal embodiment for use with other planer boards. Another option is a snap-in forward line release bracket useful when an angler wishes to fish from the opposite side of the boat, or for creating a smaller storage space requirement while storing the planer boards away between angling trips.

An improved lift attaches to the leader line of a fishing reel and reduces snags. In use, a user casts a rig including the leader line, an improved lift, a hook, and a weight into the water. The lift includes a body having apertures through which the fishing line extends to mount the lift onto the leader line, upstanding sides, and outwardly extending wings. As the rig moves in the water, the outwardly extending wings of the lift cause the lift to ascend from the bottom of the body of water, thus preventing opportunities for the hook or weight to become snagged, for example on rocks or sunken tree branches.

The disclosure features bobber stops that include a hinged body having two symmetrical halves divided by a hinge, each half including (a) a pair of line-receiving grooves, the grooves being arranged such that when the hinged body is in a closed position opposed grooves define a closed line-receiving bore, and (b) a region disposed between the grooves that is configured to clamp the line when the body is in the closed position; and a clasp configured to secure the body in the closed position and allow the body to be moved to an open position by a user.

A planer board with a multi-point connection to a fishing line comprising a side release clip with outer and inner gripping portions engaging different segments of fishing line with different release forces; a forward leverage line guide located at an upper portion of a head end of the planer board at a height above the side release clip, to laterally but not longitudinally secure a segment of fishing line therein; and a rear line guide at the tail end of the planer board for laterally but not longitudinally securing a segment of the fishing line therein. A first segment of fishing line gripped by the side release clip can be snapped out of engagement with the side release clip by a fisherman when a fish strikes, thereby applying a rotational force to the planer board through the forward leverage line guide to roll the planer board flat for a faster retrieval.

A fishing rod vibration system, including a mounting platform, a batter powered electronics system mounted on the mounting platform and including a motor controller and a user interface operably and electrically coupled to the motor controller, as well as a vibrator selectively and detachably coupled to the electronics system for receiving output signals from the motor controller. The vibrator includes a housing enclosing an electric motor, and vibrator mounting elements enable attachment of the vibrator to a fishing rod.

A fish hook removal device (1) used for removing fishing hooks (11) from human skin. The fish hook removal device applies downward pressure on a shank (15) of a fishing hook via a forked tip (4) located on a distal end ( ) of a shaft (3) extending from a handle (2). A removal hook (10) extends from the shaft and engages a curve (13) of the fish hook to apply a rearward motion to the curve of the fishing hook. The simultaneous downward pressure and rearward motion aligns a barb (12) of the fishing hook with an entry point of a wound (18) as the barb is removed from the wound.

A sonic stimulation and detection device includes an enclosure mounted on a fishing rod having to a fishing line attached to and extending along the rod. A microphone element is mounted in the enclosure and is acoustically coupled to the line through the enclosure and the rod line to couple sounds of fish contact with the line to the microphone. The microphone may be coupled to a headphone. A sound generator is mounted in the enclosure and is acoustically coupled to the line through the enclosure and the rod to couple fish simulating sounds generated thereby to the line to attract fish to a lure attached to the line. The enclosure is shaped to efficiently couple sounds coupled from the line to the microphone and sounds generated by the sound generator to the line.

A rig unit for a fishing line includes a float body and a ballast mass removably coupled to the float body. The ballast mass and the float body are configured to remain coupled together during a launch phase and a flight, and to separate from each other upon impact with the water at the end of a flight path. During flight, when the float body and the ballast mass are connected together, the rig unit is orientated with the float body arranged in front, and the ballast mass arranged behind it. After separation upon impact with the water, the ballast mass is configured to rest on the seabed. The main line has a first section descending from the fishing rod to a guide passage of the ballast mass, and a second section ascending from the guide passage to the float body, which is able to remain immersed, at a distance from the water surface, with a terminal line extending upwards, starting from the float body, to an auxiliary float with which the hook is associated.
