A propeller includes a bushing, a propeller body, and a propeller damper. The bushing includes a first cylinder portion surrounding the propeller shaft and a first projection protruding outwardly in a radial direction of the propeller from an outer peripheral surface of the first cylinder portion. The propeller body includes a second cylinder portion surrounding the bushing and a second projection protruding inwardly in the radial direction from an inner peripheral surface of the second cylinder portion. The first and second projections are arranged along a rotation direction of the propeller. The propeller damper includes first and second dampers side by side along an axial direction of the propeller between the first and second cylinders. The first and second dampers are separated from each other by a separation portion, and are individually elastically deformable.

A drive adaptor may be configured for coupling to the drive. The drive adaptor may include an adaptor shaft disposed in the hub drive sleeve of the hub. At least one continuous circumferential damper member may encircle the adaptor shaft of the drive adaptor. The at least one circumferential damper member may be drivingly engaged by the adaptor shaft of the drive adaptor and drivingly engage the hub drive sleeve of the hub. At least one deformation space may be disposed adjacent to the at least one continuous circumferential damper member. The at least one deformation space may at least partially coincide in circumference with the at least one circumferential damper member. Marine propellers having damper assemblies are also disclosed.

METAL POLYMER COMPOSITE FOR MAKING BALANCING WEIGHTS FOR PROPELLERS AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
20220073176 · 2022-03-10 · ·

The embodiment relates to a balanced propeller and to an extrudable metal polymer composite and process for making and using the composite to make balancing weight strips for marine or boat propellers. Metal particulate of adequate particle size is mixed with a polymer that is extruded or injection molded to form a high-density weighted strip.

Screw propeller with safety coupling
11027807 · 2021-06-08 ·

The present device relates to boatbuilding, and more particularly to screw propellers with safety couplings, intended for use in outboard motors and/or marine screw propellers. A screw propeller with a safety coupling comprises a screw propeller body-cum-hub, a drive coupling, a driven coupling, and a dowel pin. The driven coupling is disposed for rotation on a spacer bushing, said spacer bushing being a tail bushing of the driving coupling. The driven coupling is partially or completely disposed in an opening in the screw propeller body-cum-hub and transmits torque to the screw propeller body-cum-hub by means of a longitudinal dowel pin and/or longitudinal grooves and a spline coupling. A common opening for the dowel pin in the driving and/or the driven coupling is configured as a through opening, and/or the blind end of the opening for the dowel pin is connected by a transverse opening to the outside surface.

Outboard motor and damper for propeller unit

In an outboard motor, a damper includes a bushing fixed to a periphery of a propeller shaft. The damper includes a second pressing surface that presses a first pressing surface of an inner surface of a cylinder in a circumferential direction, an elastic member disposed around a portion of the bushing different from the second pressing surface of the bushing, and a reinforcer disposed between the first pressing surface and the second pressing surface.

Control of propeller shaft movement

There is provided mechanisms for controlling movement of a propeller shaft on a vessel. A controller includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to cause the controller to detect movement of the propeller shaft by determining a signature of a sustained oscillation of the propeller shaft. The processing circuitry is configured to cause the controller to control movement of the propeller shaft according to the determined signature.
