Superventilated blade that provides hydrodynamic force in a liquid at high speed
One embodiment of submerged superventilated blades (101) that provide hydrodynamic force to a vessel or aircraft (117) that can lift it above the surface of the water (106) at high speed by creating thrust with a wetted high pressure surface (111), the low pressure surface (112) being covered with a gas filled void in the liquid, thus preventing sudden loss of lift as speed increases due to cavitation or surface venting. Other embodiments are described and shown.
Propeller
A propeller. The blades of the propeller are characterized by a blade center axis which corresponds to a generator line of a cone to which the blade, or blade thrust surface, conforms. The propeller hub is fixed to the blade at the root, in line with the blade center axis, such that the hub axis and blade center axis lie in the same plane, and the leading edge of the blade is positioned forward (referring to the upstream direction of movement caused by the propeller) of the trailing edge of the blade.
EXPANDABLE IMPELLER PUMP
An impeller includes a hub, and a plurality of blades supported by the hub, the blades being arranged in at least two blade rows. The impeller has a deployed configuration in which the blades extend away from the hub, and a stored configuration in which at least one of the blades is radially compressed, for example by folding the blade towards the hub. The impeller may also have an operational configuration in which at least some of the blades are deformed from the deployed configuration upon rotation of the impeller when in the deployed configuration. The outer edge of one or more blades may have a winglet, and the base of the blades may have an associated indentation to facilitate folding of the blades.

Marine propeller and method of design thereof
A marine propeller has an outer hub having a central axis and a blade having a blade root attached to the outer hub and extending radially outward from the outer hub toward a blade tip. The blade has a leading edge and a trailing edge. The propeller has a diameter between about 15 inches and about 17 inches and a pitch between about 14 inches and about 24 inches. The blade has a progressive rake angle such that a first local rake angle at the blade root is less than a second local rake angle at the blade tip. A combination of the diameter, pitch, and progressive rake angle provides a marine vessel to which the marine propeller is coupled with minimum drag while the marine vessel is operating at less than a maximum vessel speed. A method of designing a propeller is also disclosed.
AEROFOIL
An aerofoil component defines an in use leading edge and a trailing edge. The leading edge has at least one serration defining an apex and a nadir. The leading edge has a generally chordwise extending slot located at the nadir of each serration.
Expandable impeller pump
An impeller includes a hub, and a plurality of blades supported by the hub, the blades being arranged in at least two blade rows. Propeller
A propeller having a central post to which one or more blades are connected. The blades are disposed and configured to pull air in from the propeller's sides toward the propeller's axis of rotation to create pressure in an area in the vicinity of the center of the propeller's rotating axis for generating thrust.
Prevention of cavitation
This disclosure relates to a system for reducing cavitation at a surface that moves relatively with respect to a first fluid. The system comprises a degasser configured to at least partially degas a second fluid. The system also comprises a reservoir in communication with the degasser and configured to house the at least partially degassed second fluid, the reservoir having an outlet that is arranged for directing the second fluid towards the surface. The system is configured such that the directing of the at least partially degassed second fluid towards the surface forms a boundary layer at the surface. The boundary layer is adapted to at least partially increase the negative pressure required to initiate cavitation at the surface so as to reduce the occurrence of cavitation during such relative movement.
